7-time WWE Champion to return after 3 months to cost Damian Priest at Crown Jewel? Exploring potential scenario
Damian Priest's plans could be thwarted by a returning WWE Superstar at Crown Jewel next month.
The Judgment Day has become a dominant faction on RAW, and once again, every member of the faction is currently a champion. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso captured the Undisputed Tag Team Championship from Damian Priest and Finn Balor earlier this month at the WWE Fastlane event in Indianapolis.
However, Priest and Balor won the titles back on the October 16 edition of WWE RAW after Jimmy Uso interfered in the match. Cody Rhodes confronted The Judgment Day during the opening segment of last night's edition of the red brand and challenged The Archer of Infamy to a singles match.
Priest accepted the challenge, but he and Balor then unleashed a brutal attack on The American Nightmare. Rhodes got a measure of revenge at the end of the show and attacked Balor and Priest with a chair but made his way to the ring with a visible limp as a result of the attack.
Brock Lesnar has not competed in a match since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam. The two stars were embroiled in a bitter rivalry, but The Beast Incarnate shook Rhodes' hand following the loss at the premium live event in August.
It was recently reported that Lesnar is not in creative plans for WWE Crown Jewel, but the veteran could decide to make an appearance at the event anyway. If The Judgment Day attempts to interfere in Priest's match against Rhodes, Lesnar could come to the rescue and even the odds.
Brock Lesnar and Damian Priest could then potentially enter a rivalry, possibly giving Señor Money in the Bank an impressive victory before he decides to cash in for a title shot.
WWE champion reveals he is not afraid of Damian Priest
Intercontinental Champion Gunther recently disclosed that he is not a fan of the Money in the Bank concept and is not worried about Damian Priest cashing in on him.
Speaking with Riju Dasgupta in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Gunther was asked if he was concerned about Damian Priest cashing in his contract on him. The Ring General revealed that he was not worried about Priest and added that cashing in the MITB contract is a shortcut to becoming a champion in WWE.
"No, I'm not concerned. I think, in general, it should make every champion a little bit uneasy when it's Money in the Bank season, but I also think it's a very shortcut way to success. In my opinion, a champion has to be identified in a singles match in competition in finding out who the better man on the day in the ring is, and not about the timing of when I can take my shortcut." Damian Priest has until July 1, 2024 to decide when to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. It will be fascinating to see when the 41-year-old eventually decides to strike and cash in for a title shot.
