9-time champion to return and help Cody Rhodes handle the Jacob Fatu problem? Exploring potential reports
This past Friday on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes was viciously assaulted by The Bloodline's newest member Jacob Fatu. The American Nightmare was put through the announce table by the Samoan Werewolf.
While Rhodes has allies in Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, the three of them are currently outnumbered by The Bloodline. With that in mind, one star who could potentially return and help Cody Rhodes, specifically with Jacob Fatu is the former United States Champion and two-time WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
The All Mighty has not competed on TV since April after losing an Undisputed WWE Title number one contender's Triple Threat match on SmackDown. The former four-time TNA World Champion was supposed to be part of 2024's King of the Ring Tournament, but he was replaced due to an injury.
However, recent reports noted that a match between Bobby Lashley and Jacob Fatu "is being discussed." Over the past few weeks, Lashley's stablemates, The Street Profits, have been feuding with The Bloodline and soon the former two-time ECW World Champion could also return to even the odds. The former Hurt Business member has also seemingly teased his comeback on social media.
With Cody Rhodes certainly needing all the muscle he can get to take on The Bloodline, a returning Bobby Lashley could be just the help he needs.
Cody Rhodes on his Undisputed WWE Title run compared to Roman Reigns
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes ended the historic 1316-day reign of The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. Since capturing the gold, fans have started to compare both superstars' time with the belt.
During a recent interview with WHAS11, Cody was asked how he and Roman's time as champions differ. Rhodes compared his time on the road as champion to Reigns' part-time schedule.
"I think one of the things I really love is the fact that I am able to go city to city. Whereas the WWE Champion prior to myself, the man I defeated, Roman Reigns, The Tribal Chief, was not on every city. He wasn’t making it to every show. And I’ve had the opportunity to be able to bring it, and for a year, I felt like I was the champion without the belt. I was everywhere, promising them, 'Hey, I’m gonna bring you the WWE Championship.' It feels good when you can fulfill your promise and go back to these places and bring this [title]."
Since winning the gold, Cody has taken on all comers, with him having picked up big wins against top stars such as AJ Styles and Logan Paul.
