A blockbuster match; Repeating history - 4 reasons why Brock Lesnar could return at WWE Survivor Series

It's been over a year since WWE fans last saw Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate battled Cody Rhodes in the third showdown between the two top stars. The American Nightmare defeated Lesnar, earning his respect after the SummerSlam match.

Rhodes went on to dethrone Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40 in April. Lesnar, however, remains in great shape and could return at any time.

With Survivor Series: WarGames being the one of next Big Five premium live events, Lesnar could make a shock return to the company. Doing so at Survivor Series could be a strong possibility for Lesnar for the next four reasons.

#4. The tradition of surprise returns at the event

In the past, the Survivor Series has played host to a number of memorable returns from huge WWE stars. The Undertaker reappeared at the show a few times during his career while John Cena did the same at the 2008 version of the event.

Survivor Series: WarGames set the standard for returns, however, as two monumental WWE names came back for the show. The first was Randy Orton, who was back in action after missing over a year due to injury.

He filled out Cody Rhodes' WarGames team facing The Judgment Day. The second return involved a star who many felt would never come back to WWE - CM Punk.

Punk walked out to face the WWE fans for the first time in nearly 10 years. Since it was Chicago, many fans were expecting him back. If Brock Lesnar followed suit, it would provide a massive blast for this year's show.

#3. Brock Lesnar could challenge Gunther in a dream match at Survivor Series

While he’s been out of action for almost 14 months, Brock Lesnar is still looming in the background waiting for a big match or event to reappear. He last wrestled in a losing effort against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in 2023.

Since then a few big names have moved up the card, including Bron Breakker, the new Intercontinental Champion, and Gunther, the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Lesnar could return to face one of these stars in a one-off match for the event. He shared an intense showdown and brief sequence with The Ring General in the 2023 Royal Rumble. The Ring General has stated his desire to face The Beast in a huge match.

#2. Triple H knows a potential return could be on the cards

When asked about the potential return of the former UFC star, Triple H has said that he'll return when he feels like it. It is no secret that Brock Lesnar was a favorite of Vince McMahon, and the former chairman gave The Beast whatever he wanted.

That treatment led to many title reigns and controversial wins at Money in the Bank (2019) and the Royal Rumble (2022). Lesnar has plenty left in the tank and would be a physical challenge for many new WWE stars.

As mentioned above, matches with Breakker, Gunther, Ilja Dragunov, and Bronson Reed await the former Universal Champion whenever he makes his return.

#1. A shock return could build to a match at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania

CM Punk walked out to end Survivor Series: WarGames last year, but didn't compete until the 2024 Royal Rumble. An appearance at Survivor Series wouldn't necessarily lead to a match right away for Brock Lesnar.

The 2002 King of the Ring could trot out and attack a top star like Gunther, Rhodes, Bron Breakker, or another name. With that lone action, WWE would have a feud between the past and present for the Royal Rumble.

If he didn't compete at the Royal Rumble, then his appearance at Survivor Series could set up a blockbuster program for WrestleMania 41. He missed out on this year's show. Appearing on the same card as John Cena would provide WWE with two huge bouts with part-time stars.
