A longtime veteran & new top comedy duo? - Top 6 comedic stars currently in WWE

WWE has a long history of great comedic stars like The Rock, Booker T, Santino Marella, Mankind, and many others. When done correctly, comedic wrestling can be a nice departure from intense rivalries or physical matches.

The current wrestling landscape has no shortage of performers who excel at making the audience laugh. AEW's Orange Cassidy started as a novelty act and still is to a degree, but he has transitioned into a more serious version of himself.

Meanwhile, WWE is home to many hilarious performers. Some, like Bayley, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn, are naturally funny but don't always portray humorous characters. The next six WWE stars are among the top comedic acts in the promotion.

#6. Akira Tozawa & #5. Otis may be able to have fun again on RAW

When Alpha Academy was still a babyface group, they were among the most entertaining parts of RAW. Otis has always been a favorite of the fans, and even more so when he gyrates or speaks.

Akira Tozawa's skills were on full display when the 24/7 title was still active. He gained new life with his dance while training with the faction. Tozawa always delivered when facing giants like Bronson Reed, Braun Strowman, or even Ivar.

Now that Otis has stood up for himself and his friends, expect to see more gyrations, worms, and dancing from him, Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri.

#4. The New Day can still bring the comedy

From pancakes to unicorn horns, there was a time when Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E held the top spot for comedic wrestlers in WWE. A lot has changed over the last three years, including Big E's neck injury.

Woods and Kingston remained a duo and were still hilarious in feuds with Pretty Deadly. They also had fun when Woods won King of the Ring. Recently, however, it's been hard for the New Day to succeed in the current makeup of WWE.

Several new duos are battling for dominance. When called upon, Woods and Kingston can still bring the funny. If Alpha Academy is freed of the shackles of Chad Gable, they could resume their antics together.

#3. Pretty Deadly will be future WWE Tag Team Champions

It's hard to tell what comes first with Pretty Deadly - the comedy or the wrestling. Since Kit Wilson and Elton Prince both do extremely well, they're able to weave the two together seamlessly in skits and matches.

The recent interaction with the Street Profits on SmackDown reminded fans that the British duo is hilarious. A Broadway musical about Pretty Deadly would be fantastic. Coming out with Elton in a wheelchair also provided great segments, even if it was similar to Roderick Strong's antics in AEW.

When they are in matches, Wilson and Prince have used the Eddie Guerrero tactic of feigning injuries so the referee blames their opponents. The two are still in the early stages of their main roster careers and should bring the laughs for years to come.

#2. Chelsea Green is a rare character in the women's division

Casual WWE fans have been treated to Chelsea Green's antics over the last two years. Anyone who has watched her career before WWE, however, knows that she's among the best in the business when comedy and wrestling are involved.

Her run as the Hot Mess Laurel Van Ness in IMPACT Wrestling showed her range. Toni Storm's "Timeless" persona arguably started out borrowing from Green's work in IMPACT as the Hot Mess with smeared lipstick and non-descript rants.

Coming out in a Luchador mask at Clash at the Castle was just the latest in a long line of hits from the Canadian star. Her ping-ponging off stars in the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble was also a highlight of the match.

#1. R-Truth is WWE's funniest performer

The fact that R-Truth has been with WWE for almost 15 years and is still one of the top comedic stars in wrestling is a testament to his ability.

From calling John Cena (they're of similar age) his "childhood hero" to referring to "Tom" and "Nick" (Dominik) Mysterio, Truth routinely has the WWE Universe in stitches. He's also made an art form of coming out for matches at the wrong time, like accidentally entering the women's Royal Rumble this year.

Winning tag team gold at WrestleMania 40 gave the longtime veteran his moment, but he doesn't need a title to be over with the fans. The Performance Center recruits who didn't come from the independent scene could learn a lot about character work from Truth.
