A villain's temptation; an expiring shelf-life & more - 4 signs The New Day will break up on WWE RAW tonight
The Final Testament has tried to drive a wedge between the New Day on recent episodes of WWE RAW. The feud has gone on for months with each side getting the upper hand one week only to lose it the next.
Kofi Kingston enlisted the help of Odyssey Jones while 'rehabbing' at the WWE Performance Center. Jones has been a member of RAW for nearly 15 months but only appeared two weeks ago to back up Kingston and Xavier Woods.
Karrion Kross told Woods that Kingston wasn't trying to replace Big E but that he was looking to replace him. While it may not be true, something has to give since the angle has puttered on for months. That could happen on RAW as the two sides will compete in a Six-Man Tag Team match. The New Day could finally implode tonight for the next four reasons.
#4. Big E might never return to The New Day
It's been over two years since Big E was shelved indefinitely with a serious neck injury. The former WWE Champion continues to appear on pre-show panels and at other events to utilize his natural charisma.
Since Paige, Daniel Bryan, and Edge were able to return to action, many felt Big E would eventually be medically cleared. His injury, however, must be extensive if it hasn't happened yet.
The New Day was at the height of its popularity as a trio. Big E was the powerhouse of the group. It cannot be replicated, and after 10 years, it's time for Kingston and Woods to go their separate ways.
#3. It's been teased way too much by Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross cuts great promos but hasn't had success with his actions. He's tried to corrupt faces in WWE as a way to break up groups like the LWO and The New Day.
He's heavily targeted Xavier Woods since he's the only faction member who hasn't won a singles title. Kross played him against long-time friend Kingston, but the former King of the Ring is yet to take the bait.
Someone has to succumb to Kross's words. If not, it will be months of useless storytelling. With the amount of time dedicated to the angle over the months, a split would be the most logical outcome.
#2. Kofi Kingston didn't consult with Woods about Odyssey Jones
While he probably wasn't complaining when Odyssey Jones came to his aid on RAW, the post-attack conversations sowed possible seeds of doubt with Woods.
Kofi simply claimed that he ran into Jones at the PC while rehabbing. If The New Day still communicated like friends, Kingston would have told his ally he found someone who could help against the Final Testament.
Woods didn't look happy with the whole situation due to the longevity of his friendship with Kingston. However, he quickly joined in a celebration with Alpha Academy to end the segment. Bringing in Odyssey Jones gives him something to do, but why did it take almost 14 months to find a place for him?
#1. Groups like Bloodline, Judgment Day, and Imperium have broken up this year
One trend that has emerged in 2024 is the breakup of WWE factions. While the angles have played out over a couple of years, several prominent groups have disbanded in one way or another this year.
The Bloodline imploded leading up to WrestleMania 40. Solo Sikoa built a new version from its ashes. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser expelled Giovanni Vinci from Imperium before the 2024 WWE Draft.
The Judgment Day finally fractured after the shocking events of SummerSlam. It's a trend when more than two things happen, so The New Day breaking up on RAW makes sense. It would follow an ongoing practice in WWE, which needs to happen for The New Day after a 10-year run.
