Absent SmackDown star to return, non-WWE championship to be defended? - 4 possible surprises that could happen at NXT No Mercy

Fans are eagerly awaiting the WWE Bash in Berlin 2024, which is set to take place in a matter of hours. While the main roster's premium live event is one to look forward to, it isn't the only massive show taking place this weekend.

The NXT brand will be hosting its own premium live event. NXT No Mercy 2024 is set to air on Sunday, September 1st, beginning at 7 PM EST. The show is being held at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, and close to 7,000 tickets have been distributed according to WrestleTix.

The show's match card features several big or intriguing matches. This includes TNA Wrestling's Joe Hendry challenging Ethan Page for the NXT Championship, Chase U putting their gold on the line, and Roxanne Perez defending her NXT Women's Title against Jaida Parker.

In addition to a total of six matches booked for NXT No Mercy, there could be some big surprises from Shawn Michaels and General Manager Ava. This article will look at a handful of potential shockers that could be in store for fans tomorrow.

Below are four possible surprises that could happen at WWE NXT No Mercy 2024.

#4. Zachary Wentz could put his newly captured X Division Championship on the line

One of the more intriguing bouts of the night will feature Wes Lee taking on Zachary Wentz. Not only is this a TNA Wrestling vs. NXT bout, but this is a match years in the making as former tag team partners and best friends collide.

Wes Lee shocked the world by turning heel on Zachary and Trey Miguel on NXT a few weeks ago, putting an end to MSK and this iteration of The Rascalz. In the time since then, the two have had a big brawl and a face-to-face confrontation.

Interestingly, TNA Wrestling held their Emergence event last night where Wentz captured the X Division Championship. In what could be a big shocker and a major talking point, the title could be defended at NXT No Mercy. An even bigger surprise could be Lee potentially winning the belt and wearing it on NXT television moving forward.

#3. SmackDown's Tegan Nox could return to NXT

Tegan Nox is one of the most underutilized and underrated performers on WWE's main roster. She first joined SmackDown in 2021 before being let go by Vince McMahon. Tegan returned in late 2022 and has had mixed success at best.

The Girl With the Shiniest Wizard hasn't appeared on WWE television for quite some time. She last competed on the RAW before WrestleMania and has since been drafted to Friday Night SmackDown. Unfortunately, Tegan is yet to compete on the actual show.

In what could be a fun twist, Tegan Nox could return to NXT at No Mercy. If Kelani Jordan defeats Wendy Choo to retain the Women's North American Title, the SmackDown star could surprisingly turn heel and attack Kelani before making it clear that she wants the belt.

#2. Cora Jade could return to WWE NXT and help Roxanne Perez retain

The other title match for the NXT women's division at No Mercy 2024 will see Roxanne Perez put her gold on the line. She will be defending the WWE NXT Women's Championship against the up-and-coming Jaida Parker.

While Jaida is still green, she has confidence that most veterans wish they could muster. She has also been on a bit of a roll, having defeated WWE SmackDown's Michin in a Street Fight and then winning the right to become the number one contender.

In what could be an exciting surprise, Roxanne Perez's former friend and enemy Cora Jade could make her return at No Mercy. Not only could she return, but she could help Roxanne defeat Jaida and the two could reunite. They already do various posts together on social media, so the pair reuniting on-screen would just make sense.

#1. Nathan Frazer could turn heel on Axiom

When it comes to in-ring action, the bout most fans are looking forward to at NXT No Mercy 2024 is the NXT Tag Team Title Match. The new champions Andre Chase and Ridge Holland will defend their titles against Axiom and Nathan Frazer.

Collectively known as Fraxiom, Nathan and Axiom were the men who held the belts before losing them to Chase U. They earned this rematch by defeating Riley Osborne and Duke Hudson. Many WWE fans are hoping Fraxiom can win the gold back, but something else more shocking may happen instead.

The pair could lose their pursuit of gold and in a stunning moment, Nathan Frazer may turn heel on Axiom post-match. The man trained by Seth Rollins could savagely beat down his partner and accuse Axiom of holding him down. This could then lead to the two feuding on television moving forward.
