WWE News: Adam Cole and former NFL punter Pat McAfee have a war of words on Twitter
What's the story?
The WWE announced that legendary former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee would make his ring announcing debut when NXT travels to Indy this Sunday. Since then The Undisputed Era's Adam Cole and McAfee have been trading jabs back and forth on Twitter.
In case you didn't know...
McAfee was one of the rare punters drafted in the NFL when he was taken in the seventh round of the NFL Draft in 2009. The two-time NFL Pro Bowl punter spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts before retiring after the 2016 season due to knee injuries.
The heart of the matter...
When McAfee's announcement was made by the WWE, Cole was quick to turn to Twitter to warn McAfee to stay out of his way:
McAfee would give his response the very next morning:
Then on Friday morning, Cole would fire another shot just days ahead of the NXT event.
On The Pat McAfee Show, he didn't stand down, mentioning that he can punt a ball 80 to 90 yards and has the strongest leg in the history of the earth. He would leave the following quote for Cole to digest:
"I’ve kicked a soccer ball 125 miles an hour, and I’m going to kick his chin from Indianapolis to Columbus, Ohio,”
Cole challenged McAfee to run his mouth in person, and there seems to be a very good chance of that happening this Sunday in Indianapolis.
What's next?
Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for anything further within the war of words between Cole and McAfee. The wait isn't long for these two to be in the same building as the NXT Live event in Indy is this Sunday.
Author's take...
McAfee has always had a larger than life personality, so the fact that he's going to take part as a ring announcer in NXT fits perfectly. It's been entertaining watching him and Cole go back and forth and really excited to see how this all plays out this weekend.
