Adam Pearce's warning ignored, major SummerSlam match to be confirmed? - 3 ways CM Punk can respond to Drew McIntyre's return on WWE RAW
WWE Monday Night RAW is set to air tonight, and it is set to be an entertaining affair. This will be the second edition of the red brand following Money in the Bank, with the promotion looking ahead to SummerSlam next month.
One of the most interesting and well-received stories currently is the rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. In many ways, their story dates back to Punk's return at Survivor Series WarGames, but things have heated up since the Royal Rumble, where The Second City Saint got injured.
Things have gotten extremely physical and demeaning recently, with Drew even getting suspended for some of his behavior. At Punk's request, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce is set to meet with The Scottish Warrior on tonight's RAW and will likely unsuspend the 2024 Mr. Money in the Bank.
It isn't yet clear what Drew will do or say, but there's little doubt that The Voice of The Voiceless will respond in some way. This article will take a look at a handful of different ways Punk can and likely will react to whatever it is Drew does on Monday Night RAW tonight.
Below are three ways CM Punk can respond to Drew McIntyre's return on WWE RAW:
#3. CM Punk can cut a promo from home mocking Drew McIntyre
As noted, Adam Pearce and Drew McIntyre will be having a live meeting during tonight's RAW. Notably, CM Punk will not be in attendance for this meeting; at least he shouldn't be considering that Adam pleaded with The Best in The World to sit home this week.
Supposing Punk does indeed follow through with this promise, he can still respond to whatever Drew McIntyre happens to do or say on tonight's WWE RAW. Instead of cutting a promo in the building, The Straight Edge Superstar can do so in the comfort of his own home.
Punk can either cut a scathing promo on Drew, verbally tearing The Scottish Psychopath a new one, or he can use his smart-alec personality and instead mock McIntyre by parodying something the former world champion is known for.
The Scottish Warrior often takes to social media and cuts promos from his couch or his backyard. CM Punk could imitate this behavior and have his promo played on RAW to further irritate his rival. Mocking McIntyre isn't outside of Punk's typical behavior.
#2. He could challenge Drew McIntyre to a match at SummerSlam
CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames last winter. His first televised match following his return was in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match this past January. Despite being in the final two, Punk ultimately lost the match. Worse yet, he was injured in the bout and has yet to return to in-ring competition in the six months since then.
Many expect Punk to be back in the ring soon, potentially as early as SummerSlam. A lot of WWE fans are hoping Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will go one-on-one at The Biggest Party of The Summer in Cleveland, Ohio, next month. For now, however, nothing has been confirmed.
Regardless of what Drew may say or do during his appearance, Punk may do a video, as mentioned in the previous entry. Instead of trolling McIntyre or lashing out at the former champion, however, the former AEW star may reveal he's cleared to compete and challenge Drew to a match at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event.
#1. Punk can appear on WWE RAW and attack despite being told to stay home
CM Punk being asked to stay home was a shocker to some, most of all Punk himself. The rivalry between him and Drew has become intensely personal, especially ever since McIntyre took a bracelet that has AJ Lee's name on it. Using Punk's wife to get in his head was next-level hatred.
The Best in The World did accept Pearce's request to stay home, as he doesn't want to risk not getting a title opportunity in the future. Still, CM Punk could betray Pearce and appear on WWE RAW anyway.
When McIntyre is presumably in the ring with Adam, The Voice of The Voiceless may show up through the crowd. From there, he may jump Drew and engage in a fierce brawl that will take a lot of security to break up.
The only drawback to this potential attack is that Adam Pearce warned Punk that if he shows up and causes trouble, any future title matches or bouts with Drew will be off the table. Pearce and Punk are long-time friends, however, and Adam will likely overlook his own threat if push comes to shove.
