AEW Double or Nothing: 3 reasons why Dustin should defeat Cody
Just a few hours from now, AEW marks a new era of wrestling - a period where there's a genuine alternative to WWE. NJPW, ROH, and Impact Wrestling were always in the running, but they never achieved the kind of impact that AEW did.
AEW is the brainchild of Cody and the Young Bucks, and they have successfully translated their success from ALL IN into a promotion with millions of dollars of backing. A lot of wrestlers tried their hands on creating competition for WWE but failed miserably. AEW, with all the hype around it, is the answer to the alternative that fans always wanted.
One of the Executive Vice Presidents, Cody, would be taking on his brother Dustin Rhodes. They would strive to end their sibling rivalry at Double or Nothing. Formerly Goldust, Dustin Rhodes shed off his Gold and Black paint and dawned a new Red and Black combination.
The build-up to this match brought out emotions and high impact promos; all channeled through a single YouTube video on Cody's YouTube channel.
While Cody is the clear favorite to win this match, here are three reasons why Dustin should come out a winner.
#3 Potential retirement match
Dustin Rhodes signed the contract with AEW as a full-time employee. But given his age, it is in plain sight that he won't continue for long. He always had the mind for the business and could help AEW with backstage stuff, irrespective of he is wrestling or not, which makes him a valuable asset.
If he decides to hang up his boots after decades of being in the business, Cody might be the best choice for his retirement match. Although there's nothing said about such a stipulation as it gives away the result. AEW has a chance to do something different and send Dustin off with a win.
