AEW News: Chris Jericho reveals how WWE's booking is helping All Elite Wrestling
What's the story?
AEW's Double or Nothing PPV closed in a big way for Chris Jericho, as he was able to defeat Kenny Omega and seal his place in the first-ever AEW Heavyweight Championship match against Adam 'Hangman' Page. However, he was also confronted by Jon Moxley aka Dean Ambrose, who hit him with a Dirty Deeds before turning his attention to Kenny Omega.
After the success of AEW Double or Nothing, Chris Jericho has every reason to be happy. On his Talk is Jericho Podcast he talked about why WWE's booking is actually helping All Elite Wrestling.
In case you didn't know...
AEW had their first-ever pay-per-view after their formation on the 25th of May, which was greeted by resounding success.
WWE, on the other hand, has been struggling recently. They have been battling low ratings, extreme criticism from fans and critics alike, as well as stale booking. The formation of AEW has come at the worst possible time for them, with fans suggesting that they might be facing real competition for the first time in 2 decades.
The heart of the matter
On his podcast, Chris Jericho talked about WWE's struggles with their booking and criticism for their booking decision. However, according to him, these struggles came at the perfect time for AEW and that WWE's booking was actually helping the company.
“A lot of [our coverage] has to do with what is going on in the WWE lately. This isn't bagging on the WWE because I love the WWE. I have a great history there and great respect for everybody involved. But when you are reading the reports online about what critics are thinking and long-time fans are complaining about the booking and some of the booking decisions where things aren't making sense, there is a whole kind of a real cloud over the WWE's head at this point which in turn is giving AEW so much coverage and we haven't even had to do anything. It is unbelievable when you actually think about it...” – h/t Wrestling Inc
He clarified saying that he felt that WWE had really talented Superstars, but it was the opinion fans held of what was going on behind the scenes that had changed.
He ended by promising that 'a lot of heads are going to be turned' by what AEW has planned, and Jericho confessed to being excited about it.
What's next?
The AEW roster is rich with depth, featuring star with Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and several others. If Jericho says that AEW is going to turn heads in the future, fans might be inclined to believe him.
