AEW News: Kenny Omega wants huge NJPW star in All Elite Wrestling
According to Fightful, Kenny Omega, at Starrcast, revealed that he would like to have Will Ospreay in AEW. The question came up as part of the Being The Elite mailbag, in reference to Omega's relationship with NJPW.
Who is Will Ospreay?
Will Ospreay is one of the biggest stars in NJPW right now. He currently holds the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship (his 3rd reign) and is considered one of the bright spots for the promotion. He chose NJPW over WWE because he enjoys working in Japan.
He was recently engaged in a Twitter battle with Seth Rollins as they had a war of words as to who has the best pro wrestling on the planet. While the "online feud" was just a sideshow, wrestling fans would love to see the two battle it out in the squared circle.
What did Kenny Omega say about NJPW?
Kenny Omega was asked about his current relationship with NJPW and whether he would work with Wrestle Kingdom 14. Kenny Omega then did a Mr. Burns impression and said "When Pigs Fly." On a more serious note, he did say he's waiting for a phone call but it may not come. Kenny Omega then said he felt he had worked with everyone at NJPW, except for one.
Which NJPW star does Kenny Omega want in AEW?
Kenny Omega was asked who he would like to sign from any company. He responded with,
"'He’s been talked about a lot lately, so I’d like to either be able to give him the platform or shut him up."
This was in reference to Will Ospreay. He also said that he would like his former tag team partner, Kota Ibushi, in AEW as well. It's worth nothing that Will Ospreay's NJPW contract ends in 2024.
What's next for Kenny Omega?
While Jon Moxley pulled out of their match for All Out, Kenny Omega will instead be facing PAC. While the match is devoid of any build, it still has wrestling fans interested in what's to come on August 31st.
