AEW News & Rumor Roundup: Top star trying to get fired, Saraya issues statement after another content leak, and more
Welcome back to another edition of Sportkeeda Wrestling's AEW News and Rumor roundup. Today, we'll look at stories involving a disgruntled top star reportedly trying to get fired, Saraya breaking her silence over leaks amidst her AEW absence, and more.
AEW has also updated their upcoming shows to include additional matches involving stars such as Toni Storm, Shelton Benjamin, and more which will surely pique the fan's interest. So, without further ado, let's begin:
#4. Rey Fenix is reportedly trying to get "fired" from AEW amid WWE rumors
Rey Fenix has been with AEW since 2019 but is now reportedly trying to cut ties with the promotion. Fenix had been rumored to be WWE-bound along with Penta El Zero, but his contract situation with the company has seemingly put a stop to those plans.
The former International Champion hasn't been afraid to voice his frustrations on social media ever since. He has claimed that he's been treated poorly by the management which led to health implications.
A report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has come out stating that he's trying his best to get fired from his contract. We'll have to wait and see if these actions from Rey Fenix will lead him to getting fired or would Tony Khan make him wait out the rest of his contract.
#3. Saraya has broken her silence over her exclusive content leaks
Saraya has now reacted to her Patreon's exclusive content getting leaked online. The former AEW Women's Champion did not react well to the news of her exclusive content getting leaked online.
Saraya stated that someone had bought the entire collection of posts from her Patreon and leaked all of it online. She further stated how she plans on dealing with this situation to prevent any leaks from occurring in the future.
“As you know, I started my Patreon and I have tiers from five dollars up to one hundred dollars,” Saraya explained. “And someone, some loser, came in there and bought the hundred-dollar tier, and everything I posted, he just posted online, which is not fair to me but also not fair to the fans who are on Patreon and spending money. Me and my team have decided for Patreon that we are just going to have one tier, and it’s going to be ten dollars for everything. All the content that was posted for different tiers, you’re going to have access to that. Just ten dollars a month. I just feel like it’s better than a lot of people spending money in there and losing out because it’s just going to be for free online anyway.”
The Anti-Diva also made light of how she's no stranger to leaks in the past and has no problem joking about it like others.
#2. Mercedes Mone's former partner Kamille expresses frustrations after being written off TV
Mercedes Mone's former partner Kamille has vented about her frustrations after being written off AEW TV.
Kamille enjoyed a dominant stint as the unstoppable bodyguard of the former WWE star. But things slowly began to crumble between her and Mercedes. After being insulted by her boss, Kamille quit her job as a bodyguard.
This led to her being taken off of programming. She recently expressed her feelings about it at length in an interview on CovalentTV. The star also stated that she is disappointed she wasn't able to express her true personality in front of fans.
#1. Multiple matches have been added to upcoming AEW shows
AEW always knows how to build a stacked match card and is already doing some work to make its upcoming shows special. The promotion has announced multiple matches for Winter is Coming and Holiday Bash.
Toni Storm will go against Shazza Mckenzie and a 10-man tag team bout including Daniel Garcia, Orange Cassidy, Premier Athletes and more has been added to AEW Collision: Winter is Coming on December 14. Kris Statlander will also be in action on the show.
It was also announced that Shelton Benjamin will take on The Beast Mortos in a Blue League Match in the Continent Classic on Holiday Bash.
