AEW Rumors: Contract talks initiated with Goldberg and another WWE legend

AEW is making all the right noises!

What's the story?

Goldberg is in the news again and Vince McMahon won't be happy with the rumors currently spreading. On the latest edition of the Barnburner's No Hold's podcast, Jon Peisich revealed that the former WCW Champion has talked with officials from AEW regarding a contract.

He also revealed another popular WWE veteran who has been in touch with the upstart promotion.

In case you didn't know...

The 52-year-old Superstar's last match took place at WrestleMania 33 where he dropped the Universal title to Brock Lesnar in a short yet engaging match.

Goldberg was most recently the headline inductee of the Hall of Fame Class of 2018. In a shoot-style interview after the event, the former WWE Universal Champion was critical of the WWE's Hall of Fame and outrightly told Vince McMahon that it sucked.

The speculation regarding his future has constantly made it to the dirt sheets ever since and with AEW rising in prominence, the rumor mills have naturally been working overtime.

The latest bit is sure to excite the fans who are hoping for the Cody Rhodes-backed promotion to take off...

The heart of the matter

Peisich rallied the information provided to him by one of his AEW sources on the most recent episode of the No Hold's Barred podcast. He revealed that AEW has talked to Goldberg but is not sure whether they will end up signing him.

He even added that Batista was also approached for a possible stint with the new company. However, the pro wrestler turned Hollywood superstar is unlikely to sign on the dotted line for AEW as he intends on finishing his career with the WWE, presumably after one final match against Triple H.

“All Elite Wrestling, from a source, has talked to Goldberg. I don’t know if they’re going to sign him but they have talked to Goldberg. They have also talked to Batista,” Peisich disclosed.

What's next?

AEW is trying to rope in all the star power they can for their debut show, Double or Nothing, which scheduled to take place on May 25th, 2019 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The show apparently was sold out in four minutes. Promising signs indeed!
