AJ Styles to 'quit' in last WWE match, two huge returns - 5 ways Triple H can shock us at Clash at the Castle
WWE has booked an action-packed show for the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event, which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, this weekend. The show will feature huge championship matches, a few of which will see top champions put their gold on the line against familiar challengers.
The show looks promising on paper, with a couple of championships expected to change hands. However, Triple H may have planned a few jaw-dropping surprises throughout the brief yet compelling matchcard. However, which one of The Game's booking decisions would truly surprise fans is another guessing game.
Here, we look at five ways Triple H can shock us at Clash at the Castle this weekend:
#1. AJ Styles truly 'retires' at WWE Clash at the Castle 2024!
AJ Styles challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Backlash France but failed to dethrone The American Nightmare. He then addressed his "retirement" on SmackDown and invited Cody to join him inside the ring under the ruse of handing over the keys to the "house he built." However, a quick swerve saw Styles launch a brutal attack on the champion before revealing his intentions for a rematch.
The Phenomenal One will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash at the Castle this weekend. It is worth noting that the superstars will lock horns in an "I Quit" Match, with Cody determined to force Styles into retirement.
With such high stakes associated with the match, we could see Triple H book a massive swerve by having Styles 'retire' if he loses in the upcoming title match. It would also add to The American Nightmare's championship reign and could potentially help write off the TNA legend from television until he wants to return.
#2. Brock Lesnar returns at WWE Clash at the Castle!
Adam Pearce is finding it difficult to deal with Bron Breakker, who's getting more ruthless with each passing week. This week on WWE RAW, Breakker defeated Ilja Dragunov in a singles match and attempted to hit him with a deadly Spear after the final bell. However, he was stopped in his tracks by a flying Ricochet, who would soon pay for his interference.
Breakker punished Ricochet with a vicious attack backstage, throwing the latter against the windshields before putting him in an ambulance. We may see Pearce bringing Brock Lesnar on the red brand to keep the former NXT Champion in check. The Beast incarnate put over Cody Rhodes in his last appearance and could do the same for Breakker upon his return, especially if the 26-year-old decides to hijack Clash at the Castle in his bid to make a statement.
#3. Drew McIntyre loses at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland!
Drew McIntyre is days away from scripting a dream victory in front of his home crowd. The Scottish Warrior will challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Clash at the Castle PLE in Scotland. He defeated Finn Balor in the main event of WWE RAW this week to get The Judgment Day banned from ringside.
Now, everything is in favor of The Scottish Warrior ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with The Archer of Infamy. This is where Triple H could pull off a massive swerve by denying the most predictable match result at the upcoming Premium Live Event. We could see McIntyre once again suffering a major loss, potentially because of CM Punk, which would be an intriguing surprise.
#4. Finn Balor betrays Damian Priest!
WWE has repeatedly shown budding tension between The Judgment Day members. There is no denying that Finn Balor has his eyes on the World Heavyweight Championship, which currently rests with Damian Priest. The latter forcing his leadership onto the heel stable in Rhea Ripley's absence has also been a point of contention.
Most recently, we saw Finn Balor stealing Liv Morgan's hotel room key, which she had given to Dominik Mysterio. The Prince's intentions are under scrutiny, and Triple H could have him betray The Archer of Infamy at Clash at the Castle. If he attacks the champion during the match, it will protect Priest even if he loses. On the other hand, if Balor attacks a fellow Judgment Day member after the title match, it will set up their championship feud after the PLE, making it a win-win decision.
#5. Alexa Bliss returns and targets Bayley!
WWE has long teased the arrival of Wyatt 6, a faction dedicated to the memory of late superstar Bray Wyatt. The group could include former SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, who also recently returned to the gym. The Game could have Bliss make a huge return at Clash at the Castle and immediately put her in the title picture.
The upcoming PLE will see Bayley put her WWE Women's Championship on the line against Piper Niven. Although the latter would have a home advantage, it is unlikely that this match will end with a title change. Thus, we may see a different swerve planned in the post-match segment where Alexa Bliss could return and set her sights on the title.
