AJ Styles to return on SmackDown tonight, turn babyface & call out former WWE champion? Exploring the possibility

Tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown is set to take place at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. One star that fans are hoping to see make his first appearance for the company in over two months is AJ Styles.

The 47-year-old's last televised match for the company was on June 15, 2024, in an I Quit Match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title. During the feud, Styles performed as a heel, a role that he has thrived in over the years. However, given his talent in the ring, many fans are ready to cheer for him once again.

If Styles makes his return on the blue brand tonight, he could go after a performer that many fans feel deserves to be hit with a Phenomenal Forearm or two, and that is the former United States Champion, Logan Paul.

During his time in the company, Logan Paul has shown that he can hang with the best that the company has to offer, such as Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, LA Knight, and Cody Rhodes. It will be interesting if, going forward, fans get to witness a feud between heel Logan and babyface Styles.

Top WWE star praises AJ Styles

Since 1998, AJ Styles has been one of the most reliable hands in the ring, producing stellar matches for the WWE, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and TNA.

Following their recent match at Clash at the Castle, Cody Rhodes spoke to Pro Wrestling NOAH's YouTube Channel, where he reflected on the impact that AJ Styles has had on today's generation of performers.

"AJ Styles, I refer to him as a modern excellence of execution. Bret Hart was the original excellence of execution, and I feel AJ really follows that greatly in terms of, AJ was already somebody who was doing new things and breaking the rules and part of the revolution in the industry. He was already a huge part of that."
