Analyzing the best way in which WWE could book NWO
Striking the nostalgic chord
The WWE is going to have their last major stop before SummerSlam at the Moda Centre in Portland for their flagship weekly show, Raw. Many developments are expected for the show at it will be crucial for the success of the Summer’s big party and one thing in particular which the fans would be looking forward to will be a NWo reunion.
There are news around the block that Hulk Hogan will be having a birthday celebration on Raw this week and names like Ric Flair, Jimmy Hart, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall have been called up for the occasion.
The latter two names gives rise to the prospect of seeing an exciting reunion this week as the wolf pack could come back together. It will be a trip down the memory line for a vast majority of the fan base when they will see all three superstars in the ring together.
NWo is one of those stables that steered the course of wrestling business back in the late nineties and having them on live television would be good for the WWE network.
However instead of making it only a simple appearance, the creative team could push it further and make it a long running angle that would benefit everyone.
Someone to stand up against the Authority
Authority’s reign as the top heel faction in the company is unaffected so far even after names like Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and John Cena tried to bring it down.
Now imagine how the NWo would fair against Hunter’s pack. The primary reason why the faction formed back in WCW was to take down the authority of Eric Bischoff. Though the NWo was heel back then, they received a great response from the crowd.
The trio could simply switch alignment at this stage of their careers and go on a face run against the Authority’s evil reign. All three of the superstars are excellent microphone workers and with the wealth of experience that they carry in their resume, NWo could excel without any physical interaction.
Having a power struggle on top of the paradigm would work well for the longer run as it would keep the Authority busy at Summerslam apart from the Brie Bella feud.
It would also raise the star power and anticipation levels for the pay-per-view further while being and insurance if something goes wrong.
A base for the youngsters
Being associated with the Authority would be a sure shot way to be under the spotlight for any superstar in the roster. There are a lot of midcarders like Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, and many others who could work wonders if given the right opportunity like this.
One of the reasons why these superstars doesn’t get a big push like others in the roster is the misconception from the creative team that they cannot be banked in on a major angle.
With big name like Hogan and an established stable like NWo, pulling the strings the writers would not have any trouble pushing these guys into the mix. It would be important to do the same as the veterans should be kept away from the ring.
A revamped version of the NWo with the one who formed it leading the line can be a successful angle in anytime. With the Network renewals around the corner, a blast from the past can attract more fans who aren’t aware of what this trio did to the history of professional wrestling.
Having a decorated stable go against the Authority would be a successful venture for the company from all angles and hopefully, they won’t just waste the opportunity to promote the 9.99 hashtag or show how cruel their oculus mirror is.
