Apollo Crews talks about NXT, sharing the ring with Samoa Joe and more
In a recent interview with British tabloid The Mirror, WWE NXT hotshot Apollo Crews spoke about various topics including sharing the ring with Samoa Joe, the dynamics created due to NXT as well as NXT being a power in its own right – reports dailywrestlingnews.com.
On sharing ring space with Samoa Joe, Crews said: It’s amazing. “It’s not every day you get to be in the ring with somebody of that calibre so to be able to have that opportunity is amazing for me. It’s a chance to show not just everybody else but myself that I can hang on that level.”
Crews noted that he was an admirer of Joe long before he became a professional wrestler and stated that Joe has been like a mentor to him, and has picked up valuable tips from his older colleague.
Crews also stated that what bowled him over at NXT was the wrestler from all walks of life, different calibers, styles and body types, which helped him up his game. Another major attraction to the brand was its ability to juggle so many events, which is why most professional wrestlers are drawn to it.
When asked if NXT is a stepping stone for wrestlers who wish to break into the main roster, Crews stated that NXT is a lot more than just a stepping stone, while noting that although it’s every wrestlers wish to break into the main roster on WWE, everybody had goals to accomplish on NXT.
The 28-year-old also claimed that NXT is where every wrestler wanted to be, while stating that the WWE Network is doing NXT a whole lot of good, evidenced by the recent UK tour.
