Are The Street Profits leaving WWE after airing frustration publicly? The truth revealed
In the last few days, there have been rumors about WWE group The Street Profits splitting up. The speculations gathered momentum after Montez Ford spoke about the team's title drought and how they were not counted as one of the top teams in the promotion.
Last week, it was speculated that Ford might walk away during the middle of a title match against Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). So, are they leaving the Stamford-based promotion? The answer is no.
According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the group is tied up in deals with the WWE, and the recent rumors and comments were just to attract attention. The report further noted that Montez Ford has been working on some external projects, but beyond that, there's no belief that he or Angelo Dawkins is leaving the group.
"In regard to questions some readers have had about the status of The Street Profits after comments were made on social media about their unhappiness, the team are currently locked into deals with WWE, and it's likely the statements were to garner attention more than anything else. We are told that Montez Ford has been working on some outside projects of late (he's among the troupe of WWE talents now signed with Paradigm as part of their Sports division), but beyond that we are told there's no belief internally that he or Angelo Dawkins are exiting," Mike Johnson said.
The Street Profits lost their WWE Tag Team Championship shot against MCMG on SmackDown last week, as Tommaso Ciampa ran interference, ending the match in DQ.
While it was expected that Montez Ford might have a verbal altercation with his partner and walk away, nothing of that sort happened, and later, the two walked out together. This hinted that the iconic team isn't going anywhere.
Montez Ford opened up on his frustration over The Street Profits recent run in WWE
Montez Ford spoke up on The Street Profits' recent run in WWE and how the group is not considered among one of the top teams.
In a recent interview with DailyMail, the 34-year-old superstar spoke up about how the team is only addressed about how The Bloodline handled them, and it doesn't go fine with him.
"I'm not going to lie and say I don't sit here and watch all the comments and everything. I watch everything. We're not in conversations when it comes to top tag teams. We're not in conversations when it comes to anything wrestling related, besides the fact of getting handled by The Bloodline, and that doesn't sit well with me. So as well as is it is going in terms of being my dream job, it is enjoying as it is frustrating," Ford said.
The three-time WWE Tag Team Champions haven't won any titles in the last four years, and Ford's frustration is evident. They have been in the company since 2019. However, they have been sidelined by newer factions like The Bloodline or the MCMG.
Ford addressed this by saying that when new faces show up, the fans forget what The Street Profits has done in the past four years. Be that as it may, the duo isn't leaving the promotion anytime soon, and who knows, they might be the next one to dethrone MCMG as the tag team champions.
