What's the story?

The backstage mood in the WWE continues to deteriorate as it seems the Usos have joined the long list of superstars who want a way out of the company.

Sean Ross Sapp revealed the contract status of the Usos on the post-SmackDown show of Fightful. He said that there is apparent concern behind the scenes as the former Tag Team Champion may not renew their contracts once they expire.

In case you didn't know...

The Usos have indisputably been one of the best tag teams of this decade as the twins have won five tag team titles in addition to being a part of some great matches with The New Day.

Having started out as the colourful Samoan duo, Usos were clear-cut babyfaces with painted faces and vibrant in-ring gear. A heel turn in 2016 breathed new life into their characters as they developed into well-rounded performers who excelled both in the ring and on the microphone.

They recently became the #1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship and will take on Shane McMahon and The Miz at WrestleMania 35.

The heart of the matter

The report from Fightful states that word going around backstage point towards The Usos not re-signing with the WWE. Sapp clarified that he didn't know when exactly their current contracts come to an end but did confirm that there is some obvious worry from the WWE management's side.

He explained, “I heard there has been some concern that they may not re-sign. Now, I don’t know when their deal is up but I just heard there is some concern that they might no re-sign. That doesn’t mean they are going to AEW but it means that there is just some concern,”

What's next?

Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar are some of the big names that are reportedly interested in negotiating terms with AEW. The upstart promotion may already have their eyes on Dean Ambrose and Hideo Itami, who have both been confirmed to leave WWE.

That's not all though, as Cody Rhodes would have surely shortlisted a lot more names from the current WWE roster who can be lured into to jumping ships. In the current bidding war scenario, Vince McMahon would certainly try everything in his might to convince the Usos to stay with the WWE for the foreseeable future.
