What’s the story?

On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that WWE are indeed considering the possibility of Ronda Rousey headlining WrestleMania 35.

Additionally, a key reason behind WWE considering Rousey as the headliner of next year’s WrestleMania has also been expounded upon.

In case you didn’t know…

Rousey is widely regarded as a Women’s MMA pioneer and is one of the biggest box office draws in combat sports history.

Rousey—a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion—competed in her debut WWE match at WrestleMania 34 this past Sunday; teaming up with Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

The heart of the matter

As we’d previously reported, the professional wrestling community, including the vast majority of experts and fans, weighed in with words of high praise for Rousey’s excellent performance at WrestleMania 34.

The Baddest Woman On The Planet also noticeably received a huge pop from the crowd, as she attacked Stephanie on the RAW after WrestleMania 34, which seems to have added to the praise she’s been receiving since her debut WWE matchup.

Addressing the topic of the Raw commissioner putting over Rousey on back-to-back events, veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer explained that Rousey is a very good signing for the WWE.

This is irrespective of whether or not she has good matches/interviews—since the very fact that the WWE acquired her as a Superstar is a lucrative deal in and of itself.

Furthermore, Meltzer insinuated that Rousey’s impact in WWE is big enough to the extent that they’re already talking about Rousey headlining WrestleMania 35.

What’s next?

Presently, the belief is that Rousey is set to continue her feud against Stephanie in the days to come on RAW.

WrestleMania 35 will take place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on April 7th, 2019; and experts believe that it’s likely to be headlined by a RAW Women’s Championship Match between Rousey and Charlotte Flair.

Author’s take

Rousey truly is a once in a lifetime talent and possesses an intensity that’s hard to match.

It’s great to see WWE considering a Women’s Match to possibly close out WrestleMania—something that’s yet to happen in WWE.

This is indeed yet another bold step in the “Women’s Evolution”—which could just be what the WWE Universe wants today.
