Backstage news on Ric Flair returning to WWE television
Charlotte has undoubtedly been the workhorse of the women’s division. After her appearance at Battleground, she became only the second superstar in the history of WWE to have performed on every pay-per-view in a calender year(the first being Kevin Owens).
Leading up to Charlotte’s heel turn, Ric Flair had started appearing by her side, and through the majority of the year, he was by Charlotte’s side as she picked up momentum in her heel run.
After Extreme Rules, however, she disowned Flair in the storyline, in favour of Dana Brooke. Through much of the 6 months where he was by her side, Charlotte had barely ever won clean. After him leaving, she has lost considerably more amount of matches.
If Charlotte loses her rematch at Summerslam, then it would make one wonder where she goes from there. According to a rumor from CageSideSeats.com, there has been some discussion within WWE about bringing back Flair to possibly manage someone else who would then feud with Charlotte.
There had been a rumor of WWE Officials being high on Dana Brooke, and eventually wanting to push her as the “female Roman Reigns”, which is why she was paired with Charlotte in the first place.
If this has any validity to it, that would mean that in an organic storyline, Charlotte and Dana’s partnership would eventually lead to them feuding, and Flair possibly siding with Dana.
Another possibility would be for Charlotte to feud with Bayley after Summerslam. It is considered more fact than rumour that Bayley will have her official call-up to the main roster after Summerslam, so Flair aligining with Bayley could be a possibility as well.
All said and done, Flair’s goal is to help get his daughter more over, and help build her career.
