Big title change, heel turn, and more - 4 possible finishes for A-Town Down Under vs The Street Profits on WWE SmackDown

The latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown was a big show as it was the first night of the 2024 WWE Draft. This led to some big changes, such as Carmelo Hayes and Kiana James joining the main roster and Andrade moving to SmackDown.

The roster changes won't come into play until after Backlash France, however, and there is a major title match taking place on SmackDown next week. The team of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller will battle Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins with the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line.

Due to being the champions, A-Town Down Under was not eligible to be drafted. The Street Profits will be part of Monday's draft pool, however, it will be null and void if the pair manage to win tag team gold on the blue brand.

This article will take a look at this upcoming title match and break down various potential finishes. This includes new champions being crowned, a top heel interfering, and even a heartbreaking heel turn. How could the bout conclude?

Below are four possible finishes for A-Town Down Under vs. the Street Profits on WWE SmackDown.

#4. The Street Profits could win the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown

The Street Profits is one of the most popular and successful tag teams of WWE's modern era. They have won tag team gold on NXT, RAW, SmackDown, and even in EVOLVE Wrestling before the promotion shut down.

Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford are looking to rebuild momentum after a tough year or two. The pair have not had gold in a long time and while they have built some momentum as part of The Pride, they still are not quite at the heights they once were.

To get back to where they once were, Dawkins and Ford could defeat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller cleanly on Friday Night SmackDown. They could hit their new double-team finish or Ford could hit a beautiful Frog Splash to pick up a win.

#3. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller could cheat to win

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller are a tag team that nobody saw coming. The duo naturally united in 2023 following Grayson's call-up to WWE's main roster, even if they did not seem like a perfect fit on paper.

The pair have proven to be successful, as A-Town Down Under are the current WWE Tag Team Champions. The duo won the belts at WrestleMania XL in a Six-Pack Ladder Match. This is set to be their first major title defense.

It is unlikely that Theory and Waller will lose the titles in their first defense. Triple H likes longer title reigns, so the duo will almost certainly win. They could do so by cheating. They are crafty, so there is a chance that Waller could sneak in and smash Ford with the belt, allowing Austin to get the pinfall victory, all without the referee noticing the weapon usage. Do not doubt A-Town Down Under because they know how to capitalize when the time is right.

#2. Logan Paul could help his boys retain

As noted, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory formed a partnership in 2023 that most WWE fans did not see coming. If that was not enough, A-Town Down Under has seemingly found another partner too, with this one being a top name in the industry.

The talented pair have united with Logan Paul. The Maverick is the current United States Champion and even successfully retained his prized title against both Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XL.

Austin and Grayson have often helped Logan Paul out, so it would only make sense that he returns the favor on SmackDown. There is a chance that Paul could hit either Angelo Dawkins or Montez Ford with brass knuckles behind the referee's back. This could then set up a feud between Paul and A-Town Down Under with The Pride.

#1. Bobby Lashley could turn heel after The Street Profits fail

The Pride is a popular stable on WWE SmackDown featuring Bobby Lashley, B-Fab, Montez Ford, and Angelo Dawkins. While they are popular, the group was not exactly meant to be cheered. Lashley and the Street Profits turned heel last year.

Unfortunately, the heel turn did not work. The WWE Universe loves and respects the talented trio too much and the Stamford-based company was forced to pivot and make them babyfaces again. While this is good for the audience, it goes against Bobby Lashley's plan of having a dominant faction on SmackDown.

There is a chance that his frustration over the babyface turn and the lack of success the group has achieved in terms of titles will lead to a heel turn. If the Street Profits do not win gold on SmackDown, the immediate aftermath could see Lashley turn heel and lay one or both men out. This would separate him from the duo once and for all, labeling The Pride as a failed experiment.
