Bigger plans; main event for major show? - 5 reasons why Cody Rhodes won't be part of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames

Cody Rhodes is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion but is not currently scheduled to compete at Survivor Series 2024. The premium live event will air this Saturday night from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The American Nightmare is in a bitter rivalry with Kevin Owens on SmackDown. The Prizefighter took Randy Orton out with a Piledriver earlier this month, and Rhodes is determined to get revenge. The two stars had a confrontation this past Friday night on SmackDown, and Owens blamed Rhodes for his actions.

Listed below are five reasons why Cody Rhodes will not be a part of Survivor Series: WarGames.

#5. Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will likely main event an upcoming WWE show

The company announced earlier today that Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will be squaring off at Saturday Night's Main Event next month. The show will air live on December 14 and will also feature the finals of the Women's United States Championship tournament.

The match between Owens and Rhodes will likely headline the event next month. This would allow the company a few more weeks of storyline to build the anticipation for the bout at Saturday Night's Main Event.

#4. Triple H prefers shorter premium live events

Triple H serves as WWE's Chief Content Officer and has propelled the company to a ton of success as of late. The Game seemingly favors shorter premium live events and typically does not overload the card with a ton of matches.

Cody Rhodes may not be in action at WWE Survivor Series as a result of Triple H's preference, and the King of Kings could believe that another major title match at Survivor Series would be too much. There are currently two WarGames matches and Gunther versus Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship scheduled for the show this Saturday.

#3. More matches could be added to Survivor Series this week

Bron Breakker defended the Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus last Monday night on RAW. However, Imperium's Ludwig Kaiser interfered in the match and attacked both stars to end the bout via disqualification.

The company could be planning on adding a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship to the card for Survivor Series. Shinsuke Nakamura also recently returned and has been targeting LA Knight in recent weeks on SmackDown. The promotion may decide to have LA Knight defend his title against The King of Strong Style this Saturday night as well.

#2. WWE could have bigger plans for Cody Rhodes' storyline

Randy Orton has not been seen since he was attacked by Kevin Owens earlier this month. The promotion may have pushed back the match between Rhodes and Owens to give Orton more time to recover and sell his injuries.

The Viper could potentially return at Saturday Night's Main Event and attack Kevin Owens. This may lead to Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in a Triple Threat Match at a major event down the line.

#1. Kevin Owens could be suspended by WWE

Kevin Owens appeared on this past Friday's edition of the blue brand, but SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis seemingly had no idea where he was before his promo with Cody Rhodes. The promotion could be planning to announce that Owens is suspended during tonight's episode of WWE RAW.

Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis could both come to the ring during tonight's show and reveal that Owens will be suspended for the next couple of weeks. The authority figures could note that they made this decision together to ensure that the match between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes would take place at Saturday Night's Main Event next month.
