WWE News: Bobby Roode talks about James Storm, Samoa Joe and NXT

Roode gets candid on Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast.

NXT Superstar Bobby Rodde was recently interviewed by Sam Roberts on Roberts' wrestling podcast. During the show, Roode talked about a bevy of topics like his friendship with James Storm, looking at Samoa Joe and Finn Balor as inspirations, and much more.

Roode talked about his friendship with his former TNA colleague and Beer Money tag team partner — James Storm. Roode revealed that during his run in TNA, he didn't hang out with Storm a lot. He further added that he hadn't talked to Storm since he left TNA.

“I think that made us special at the time. We were two different guys. We never really hung out a ton, but we were able to go out there and create magic together. James has been successful in the past and I'm sure he will continue to be successful in his career.”

Both Roode and Storm as Beer Money earned fame in TNA due to their phenomenal teamwork and athleticism. During their tenure in TNA, Roode and Storm have been five-time TNA World Tag Team Champions. They were also announced as the best tag team by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2008-09.

Roode said that he was in a dilemma when his contract came up. He revealed that he had no idea about his next step. At one point Roode felt so confused that he did not even know whether he wanted to wrestle again.

However, he acknowledged the success Samoa Joe (also a former TNA star) and Finn Balor had achieved in NXT, which helped him a lot in making an informed decision.

"Yes, Samoa Joe, obviously. I know him on a personal level and worked with Joe for many years, so when Joe came over, I spoke to Joe days before he came to NXT. He didn't really know what was going to happen either. Like me, he just wanted an opportunity and kind of like a fresh start to be rejuvenated and he got that.”

Currently, Roode works in both the independent scene and NXT. Roode indicated that he visits the Performance Centre in Orlando every once in a month.

"I kind of get the best of both worlds. I go down there and, usually, I'll try to surround it around the television tapings in Orlando. So I'll go down there and spend a day or two at the PC and then do the TVs and then the events in the Florida area. If we don't have out-of-state travelling shows, I'll stay down there and work.”

According to Roode, NXT is gaining popularity every single day, thus making them tour most of the time.

Last week at NXT TakeOver: Toronto — Roode successfully faced Tye Dillinger. Both Dillinger and Roode are scheduled to be a part of the Fatal-4-Way match for the NXT Championship at NXT’s live event in Sydney.
