BREAKING: AJ Lee retires from WWE
WWE Diva AJ Lee has retired from in-ring WWE competition, the company has announced on its website. Lee started out with the industry back in 2009 and has since enjoyed a successful career in the main roster, winning the Divas title on multiple occasions.
The WWE announced the news on Twitter and their website:
Lee also played the role of the RAW General Manager during her 6-year tenure with WWE. She was also visibly frustrated by the industry being male-dominated and had recently gone on a war of words with WWE Chief Brand Officer and part-owner Stephanie McMahon over the same on Twitter.
However, just a few days earlier, after WrestleMania 31, she had joked about her intention of overtaking The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak in a tweet. So, it seems like something dramatic must have transpired between then and now for Lee to take the decision to retire.
AJ Lee was a fan favourite and holds the record of being the Diva Champion for the longest time in WWE history.
As the WWE have announced that Lee has retired from “in-ring” competition with the industry, plenty of fans are busy speculating and hoping about her return as the general manager.
