Bret Hart rips Freebirds WWE Hall of Fame induction, calls them "Pill heads"

WWE Hall of Famers The Fabulous Freebirds

Bret Hart has never been the one who was known for holding back any feelings towards fellow pro wrestlers. From Goldberg, to Ric Flair, to Triple H, to Seth Rollins, Hart has been very vocal about subjects such as work ethic, lifestyle, and backstage demeanor.

To some, these comments are an accurate representation of what has been said by others, or general perception. In contrast, others feel that Hart has reached a stage in his life of sheer bitterness, aided by his early retirement as a result of a thrust kick from Bill Goldberg.

Now you can add WWE Hall of Famers The Fabulous Freebirds to the pile of blacklisted pro wrestlers. The Freebirds were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, which is something that many felt was long overdue. The faction of Michael P.S. Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, Terry Gordy, and Buddy Roberts have been viewed as one of the best factions in pro wrestling history.

Interestingly, the team did not make much of an impression in WWE. However, they were one of the most popular names in World Class Championship Wrestling, feuding with the company jewels, The Von Erichs.

Despite this, Hart does not believe that The Freebirds are worthy of being in the Hall of Fame.

In a recent interview with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Hart expressed why he feels that The Freebirds was a bad choice, due to other names such as Ric Rude, the Fabulous Rougeaus, Demolition, and the Hart Foundation being overlooked.

"Why have they been overlooked when you can induct the Freebirds who never did squat in WWE? Ever. Never drew any money, never did anything. When I remember the Freebirds, they were all drunk and passed out at the gate at one of the airports in my first day in WWF. None of them even made the show that day, they were too drunk to make their plane."

Hart added,

"I've always gotten along with [Michael Hayes], but as far as their contribution to wrestling, gimme a break. They were all pill heads and, for lack of a better word, they were all screw-ups.

"They're not picking the cream of the crop, they're picking whoever the first person they see on the list and they go 'he would be easy to fly in.'"

Of course, comments like these are what makes Hart such a polarizing figure. Personally, I do not think that many would agree on this particular stance.
