Brock Lesnar: Eat. Sleep. Conquer. Repeat- DVD Review and key points to note
Hello SportsKeeda readers, this is WWE news writer and potential heel, Aaroh Palkar bringing you an article you’ve probably never seen before. In this piece, I will give you my thoughts and opinions on Brock Lesnar’s latest documentary, Eat Sleep Conquer Repeat.
The reason I wanted to do this review/opinion piece was because of all the Goldberg/Lesnar hype going around, and also because I thought that maybe this will be the documentary that will finally give me an inside look at the Beast Incarnate’s personal life.
So, I saw the documentary, and I hated it. I hated every second of this thing. I really think I wasted 6 hours of my life on something that didn’t even give me any of the fulfilment I expected. But, this is no way to write a review. So, let me break down everything in this documentary for you guys.
The documentary is divided into three discs covering Lesnar’s journey from WWE’s developmental territory to his current position in the company.
You get to see Lesnar’s evolution from an amateur wrestler to a sports entertainer and then to the legit fighting machine he is today.
So, the way in which this documentary progresses is that it first shows a candid documentary style interview and then a match. I’ll be first talking about the candid interviews, my God, are these interviews stale, and by the way, did I mention above that all these interviews aren’t exactly recent?
This entire documentary is a collage of interviews Brock Lesnar did since his OVW days. WWE is charging people 24 bucks for something that isn’t even new. I mean seriously it feels and looks like one of those unofficial documentaries you find on YouTube.
The effects on some of these videos are downright horrible. I mean it is the World Wrestling Entertainment we are talking about, why is the production value so low on this thing? And couldn’t the WWE get Brock Lesnar to sit down for an interview?
And do you know what Brock Lesnar says in every interview? “I like beating people up”, if you don’t believe me, you can go watch this thing. Every interview is just about Brock Lesnar telling us that he likes to beat up people.
The constant fighter talk becomes so boring and mind-numbing that even when he talks about staying away from his family or the constant troubles of being on the road it sounds phoney.
You can actually check out the video below, as it summarises every interview in this documentary:-
The only time Lesnar lets out a dollop of emotion is when he talks about his mentor, Curt Hennig aka Mr Perfect. That is the only time Lesnar looks vulnerable and I personally liked that moment. But, what happens after that? Bang! “I like beating people up”.
I wanted to have a glimpse of Lesnar’s life behind-the-scenes, but every interview they’ve put in this DVD is repetitive and boring. I initially wanted to discuss everything in detail but I think just giving you guys an overview will be enough to avoid this garbage.
So, now that we’re done with the interviews, let me tell you about the collection of matches present in this documentary. I’ll write down the entire match-list, disc-by-disc, at the end of the article.
In the entire first disc, Brock loses every match he’s in, and all the matches in the first disc are boring. Although I did like the non-televised one he had with Curt Hennig on Monday Night RAW, the rest of the matches are not even fun to see. Maybe the Kurt Angle match is still bearable, but the rest of them aren’t.
However, everything changes in Disc 2. I loved the matches present in this disc. His battles with Triple H at SummerSlam and Extreme Rules were a treat to watch. Similarly, his match against CM Punk at SummerSlam was awesome. And as you watch these matches you realise how much Lesnar has changed in-ring skill wise and everything.
Yes, I know he’s only rendered his move-set now to F-5 and Suplex’, but this current MMA version of Brock Lesnar is just too good to pass on.
The third disc also has some really great matches. In conclusion, my only gripe with this documentary is the candid interviews and the matches present in the first disc. I still won’t recommend anyone to buy this thing because all the really good matches Brock has been in are on the WWE Network for $9.99, which is way cheaper than paying for this DVD.
You won’t be missing out on anything if you don’t buy this DVD. Only the OVW and Curt Hennig match maybe collectables, but I think even those matches will be available on the Network.
Have you guys bought this DVD? What did you think about it? And would you like to see more DVD reviews in the future? Comment below and let us know.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
