From the WWE Rumor Mill: Brock Lesnar's new WWE contract reportedly allows him to fight in UFC
What's the story?
One of the big unknowns after WrestleMania 34 would be whether or not Brock Lesnar would remain with the WWE after his contract had expired, signing a new deal, or whether he'd leave and return to UFC for the bigger paychecks.
Well, Dave Meltzer revealed alleged details surrounding Lesnar's new deal that means he can do both.
In case you didn't know...
On Monday Night Raw the WWE announced that Lesnar had signed a new deal with the WWE and that he would be defending the Universal Title at the Greatest Royal Rumble show in Saudi Arabia against Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage Match.
The heart of the matter
During Wrestling Observer Radio Meltzer was asked about The Beast Incarnate's new contract with the WWE and if he had any details on it.
Whilst he had to say that he didn't know too much, what he did know was still interesting nonetheless.
There’s not a lot of info other than it’s a short-term deal it allows him to fight in UFC at least once, perhaps more. The thing is it’s at least six months before he can fight anyway, because he’s got to go through six months with if you saw the testing, he hasn’t gone in for the testing.
As you can see Meltzer says that part of Lesnar's deal with WWE is that he can go and fight at least one fight in the UFC, he adds that it will probably be against the winner of Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, and will bring Lesnar a huge payday.
Meltzer also suggests its a short-term deal and indicates later on in the show that he expects it to be somewhere around six months, and then the same contract buzz that happened in the build-up to WrestleMania 34 will happen again.
What's next?
Many people believed that Lesnar would try to negotiate a deal that he could be involved in the best of both worlds with WWE and UFC and it seems that's what he's successfully managed to do, especially with Dana White being involved in the build to the 'Mania main event match.
Author's take
We'll have to see if this does happen, but personally, I don't think it's a great idea, I can't see Lesnar beating Miocic or Cormier and if he does I don't see White being okay with Lesnar winning a title and then going back to WWE for months and not defending it. But we'll see.
