Bruno Sammartino to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
The latest inductee into this year’s class of Hall of Fame is none other than the legendary Bruno Sammartino. As reported in WWE.com,
“Triple H contacted me and started telling me all the things that had changed and everything that was going on with WWE,” Bruno said. “I started watching it after talking to him and when I saw it, I was very, very impressed.”
“I love the history of this business,” Triple H said. “Without the history, there is no tomorrow. To look back on the history of WWE, one of the most important figures in the long story of where this all came from wasn’t recognized. And that was Bruno.”
Bruno is considered the first Heavyweight Champion of the company and he is in fact still the longest reigning WWE Champion to date. Not having him inducted for this long was complete foolishness and I feel WWE has done great in inducting him into this year’s HOF.
It is excellent that WWE has somehow managed to convince Bruno about being a HOF and it is to be understood that the WWE required it more than Bruno. He is a part of several other companies’ Hall of Fame and hence another accolade to his name isn’t just necessary. But with Triple H rekindling a new relationship with this legend, WWE can proudly say that this year’s HOF is without doubt one of the best in the past few years.
Till now, WWE has announced the induction of four legendary wrestlers for HOF – Bob Backlund, Bruno Sammartino, Trish Stratus and Mick Foley. It is great news for every wrestling fan today as the company’s biggest legend is finally being given what he truly deserves.
