Can Cesaro win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship?

The odds are pretty low, but there is a way

With Seth Rollins sidelined for six to nine months, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship has been vacated and a tournament for it has already commenced.

The first round is officially over, and we are heading into the quarterfinals. There are quite a few big names in the mix, and perhaps none are as much at risk of losing than Cesaro because he faces favourite Roman Reigns.

It seems highly unlikely that with all this build-up, Reigns would lose cleanly to anyone, and so it seems favourable that he will pick up the win.

However, there is still a chance for Cesaro. Of course, it isn’t definitive that he wouldn’t beat Reigns, but the chances of that happening are pretty slim. Instead, there could be another path taken.

The tournament bracket so far

As seen above, the winner of Roman Reigns vs Cesaro will face either Alberto Del Rio or Kalisto. Traditionally that would be a one-on-one match, but what if it was a Triple Threat?

Roman Reigns and Cesaro could battle it out to a no contest, or anything along the lines, and both men could progress to the semi-finals, where they are in a Triple Threat match against Kalisto or Del Rio.

This is where Cesaro can advance into the finals, because Reigns does not have to be pinned for that to happen. The match could be a show-stealer, especially if Kalisto is a part of it, but in the end, the other man would be pinned, meaning Reigns isn’t creatively hurt, and Cesaro can go on.

With the increasing support for Cesaro, and the ‘Cesaro Section’ being in full swing every week, it would make sense for Cesaro to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

As a wrestler, he is incredibly gifted, and as a talker, he is improving. He has made for a good babyface and it has been quite a while since there has been a face World Champion.

It seems pretty obvious that Kevin Owens will go over Neville, but it becomes a little difficult to book Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler, both of which are major fan favourites. Whoever does win, though, will likely go down against Kevin Owens in the semi-finals.

This means that either Roman Reigns or Cesaro will face Kevin Owens in the final at Survivor Series, and that should be a stellar match.

If WWE decides to go along this route, or something similar, Cesaro might have a bigger chance to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship than expected.
