Charlotte Flair to win major title; surprising betrayal? - 4 possible challengers for Nia Jax's WWE Women's Championship in 2025
WWE's women's division is stronger than it has ever been. The main roster alone features around 45 female athletes, including those injured and the ones currently active. It wasn't all that long ago when the Stamford-based promotion had only under a dozen active women in the roster.
Not only are there a plethora of female stars working on RAW and SmackDown, but there are many singles titles for the women to win. RAW has the Women's World Title and the Women's Intercontinental Championship. SmackDown has the Women's United States Title and a WWE Women's Championship.
The current world champion on SmackDown is Nia Jax. The behemoth competitor won the title after defeating Bayley at SummerSlam. Many months later, she is still champion, despite turning back some serious competition.
With 2025 all but here, it is time to look at some potential challengers for Nia in the new year. This article will take a look at a few stars who could step up and challenge the champion come next year.
Below are four possible challengers for Nia Jax's WWE Women's Championship in 2025:
#4. Tiffany Stratton could cash in her MITB contract
Tiffany Stratton is one of the most sensational athletes in WWE. She isn't just able to do flips and cartwheels, but she is explosive when she performs her moves. Her ability in the ring, especially at a relatively young age, is something to behold.
The athletic superstar also holds something very special: the Money in the Bank briefcase. Inside the briefcase is a contract that offers Tiffany a guaranteed title opportunity whenever she wants, although it must be used within one year of winning it.
Nia Jax and Tiffany are allegedly friends, but there has been clear tension between them. At some point in 2025, Miss MITB will likely cash in her briefcase on the Queen of the Ring eventually. When she does, fans will explode and get behind Stratton.
#3. Jade Cargill is the future of SmackDown
Jade Cargill is a powerhouse and the future of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. She has an aura and unmatched charisma, but she has also brushed up her skills in the ring considerably over the past year or so.
Unfortunately, Jade is currently out of action. She was brutally assaulted on a past episode of WWE SmackDown and the culprit isn't yet known. However, whenever she returns, she will no doubt return as a centerpiece of the blue brand.
Given that Jade is arguably the future of SmackDown, it makes sense for her and Jax to clash. The two already have bad blood stemming from a Queen of the Ring Tournament qualifying match earlier this year. Now, they can feud over the biggest title in the division on the blue brand.
#2. Candice LeRae could be setting up the WWE Women's Champion
Candice LeRae is a veteran in the ring. She has been an active superstar for over two decades now, albeit most of that time was on the independent circuit. The former NXT Women's Champion is currently on WWE SmackDown.
LeRae's stock in WWE has never been higher than it is now. She is the first-ever Speed Women's Champion and has aligned herself with Nia Jax. Not only that, but the star's manipulative persona has seemingly caused further tension between Jax and Tiffany Stratton.
The Poison Pixie is manipulative and sneaky, which could lead to an eventual shocking betrayal. She could turn her back on Nia in an effort to win the World Title. While LeRae would be outmatched in terms of size and power, she is very crafty and fans would be foolish to doubt her chances.
#1. Charlotte Flair could be the one to dethrone Nia Jax
Charlotte Flair is one of the most decorated athletes of all time. She has been a dominant force in WWE, be it on RAW, SmackDown, or even NXT. She has even held tag team gold, which many singles stars fail to ever do.
The Queen has been out of action for quite some time. She was injured during a match with Asuka on WWE Friday Night SmackDown around a year ago and is yet to return to the ring.
While it is unfortunate that Flair isn't back wrestling yet, her return is imminent and is expected to happen very soon. When it does, Nia Jax needs to be weary. Flair is tall, strong, and agile, which will make for a serious threat to The Irresistible's title reign. Plus, Charlotte is a 14-time former World Champion and surely wants to win number 15.
