WWE Rumours: Charlotte vs Sasha Banks pulled from Clash Of Champions match listing?
Sasha Banks lost her title to Charlotte at Summerslam, just 27 days after winning it. This came as a shock to many, who believed that The Boss would get her first lengthy title reign. However, it was announced shortly after the Pay-Per-View that Sasha was pulled from all dates for the next 33 days, due to nagging injuries.
Bayley then stepped up, debuting on the main roster and taking the top babyface spot, instantly feuding with Charlotte. From the direction it was going, it looked like Bayley would be getting a title shot at Clash Of Champions, but be unsuccessful, and then Sasha would return and reclaim the Women’s Championship on the next Pay-Per-View.
However, despite Bayley defeating Charlotte in a non-title match, later that night, The Boss returned as announced, and after a fake “retirement” toned promo, she attacked Dana Brooke, who had come out, and revealed her intentions to come back and cash in her rematch clause for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash Of Champions.
However, now, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it appears that WWE has sent a word out to their web department to not promote the Charlotte vs Sasha match at Clash Of Champions. The web department was also told to change any stories that had the tone hinting towards the match.
At the moment, only the Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins Universal Championship match, and The New Day vs The Club match for the Raw Tag Team Championship is being promoted on the website.
It appears that we will have to wait until the next edition of Monday Night Raw to see what the plans are for the Raw Women’s Championship match. The main confusion stems from the fact that, as previously mentioned, Bayley had defeated Charlotte in a non-title match, so in kayfabe, that should automatically put her in contention for a Women’s Championship match.
Perhaps since both Sasha and Bayley have valid claims for a title shot, a Triple Threat will be announced for Clash Of Champions. This would also be an easy way to put the title back on The Boss.
Since Battleground, it was being rumored that WWE are already planning a Sasha Banks vs Bayley match at Wrestlemania 33. This would be extremely interesting to see, as this would allow Sasha to turn heel, a role which she truly excels at.
