WWE News: Jericho expected to stick around in the WWE till Hell In A Cell
The current run Chris Jericho is having in the WWE is brilliant, to say the least. Using his comic heel gimmick, Jericho has been able to cut some memorable promos and put up some amazing matches with younger talent, thereby putting them over. And the best thing about Jericho’s WWE deal is that he can take a sabbatical for a few months and then return with new vigor to entertain us for a few more months.
Y2J’s current run being featured on WWE programming since January, has perhaps been one of the best runs of his career. With his so-called $15,000 jacket and seven hundred dollar scarf, Jericho is the most entertaining heels in the company right now. He and AJ Styles put up a clinical performance at the biggest WrestleMania of all time. He even took an unbelievable bump on a horde of thumb tacks during the Ambrose Asylum match in a spot that has almost disappeared from WWE programming with the onset of the PG era.
There are also reports that Jericho will be involved in the main event picture at the upcoming Hell in A Cell pay per view when Owens might have to defend against Rollins and Jericho. Jericho and Owens are currently portraying a best friend gimmick and are doing a great job at it.
However, if these reports are to be believed, it seems that it will be the last chance for drinking up ‘The gift of Jericho’ for quite some time. Hell in A Cell will be the last stop for “The Ayatollah of Rock n’ Rolla” as he is scheduled to join his band Fozzy for recording a new album, which will also lead to a world tour. He was earlier scheduled to stay on with WWE till the end of the year, but he might be written off television after the pay per view.
This has definitely been one of the best runs of Jericho’s career where he ran wild with the catch phrases ‘IT’ and ‘Stupid idiot’. Over the course of the year, Jericho feuded and wrestled with a who’s who of the current WWE roster, including the likes of AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn, and even had matches with Enzo and Big Cass.
It is uncertain as to when Y2J will return to the fold of things. It may be as soon as the Royal Rumble, or we might have to wait till WrestleMania 33 to drink in the ‘Gift of Jericho’.
