Chris Jericho says it’s his ‘goal to recruit fans over from WWE’ to AEW
AEW Champion Chris Jericho has stated that bringing fans over from WWE to AEW is one of his goals, which is why it was a wise decision to put the AEW Title on him.
Chris Jericho reveals his goal
Chris Jericho became the first AEW Champion after beating Adam ‘Hangman’ Page at All Out. In an interview with 101WKQX, Jericho revealed that putting the AEW Championship on him was a beneficial decision.
“It was a very smart move to put the title on me because it’s my goal to bring people, to recruit fans over from WWE to, say, give us a try. If you like me, maybe you will like this – and we are seeing that most of the people do like to.
“I don’t think putting the title on anybody else would have been as beneficial.”
He then went on to put himself over further, claiming that he still puts up great matches and that he is unparalleled in the art of cutting promos.
“I think I am maybe better than I have ever been. Match-wise I still have the best match or one of the best matches of the night. And promo-wise, I don’t think anybody in the company or in the business right now can touch me – name one!
“And that is not being a d**k, I am just saying I understand what to do and how to engage people, how to connect with them – and that is the number one way to get people to watch your show.”
