Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens: WrestleMania 2017 Winner, video highlight and analysis
Both men began the title match unleashing right hands and this eventually led to Jericho locking in the Walls of Jericho. Owens worked out of it and rolled out of the ring only to be chased down by Jericho who dived after him.
Jericho looked like he was in control until a stiff high kick stopped him right in his tracks. Owens established control with a cannon ball, followed soon after by another one on the apron.
Owens continued to rag-doll Jericho and eventually got him into a headlock. A kick to the chest and a running Senton gave Owens complete control as he continued to humiliate the Champ, until Jericho connected with a dropkick out of nowhere.
The action spilt outside the ring and Y2J countered the pop-up power bomb. He then followed up with a dive off the third rope and looked like he could just get back in this. However, Owens regained control with a Package Sideslam and went for the cover but it wasn’t enough.
After a bit of back and forth, Jericho attempted the Lionsault to be greeted by a drop kick to the face. Owens tried to hit Y2J with the Frog Splash from the third rope but found Jericho’s knees instead.
Owens attempted the frog splash again soon only to land back-first into Jericho’s knees. Jericho worked his way back into the match with a Lionsault that connected.The highlight of the encounter had to be Owens locking in the Walls of Jericho in the centre of the ring. However, the champ gets out of it after a bit of a struggle.
Owens went for a cannon ball to establish his dominance and instead walked right into the Walls of Jericho. The challenger reached out for the ropes to save himself and eventually countered a clothes line to land a pop-up power bomb.
The champion wasn’t done yet, however, as he kicked out of the subsequent cover. After further exchanges, Jericho reversed another pop-up power bomb into a code-breaker. However, the challenger saved himself with just a finger in the subsequent pin.
Owens finally finished the encounter with a pop-up power bomb on the apron. The challenger finally went for the cover one last time after that to win the United States Championship.
