CM Punk and Drew McIntyre to compete on NXT before WWE Bad Blood 2024? Analyzing potential tag team battle
CM Punk's chilling promo on last night's episode of Monday Night RAW will be followed by his appearance on NXT tonight. The developmental brand's GM, Ava, said in a video that The Second City Saint would make a special announcement in the upcoming Tuesday Night Show.
While a clear picture of the announcement will only come to light once CM Punk appears on NXT, there is a chance he could announce a match involving him and Drew McIntyre ahead of their Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood 2024. The potential match could see The Best in The World and Tony D'Angelo teaming up to face The Scottish Warrior and Oba Femi.
This potential tag-team match could take place on NXT's debut episode on the CW Network on October 1. The marquee episode will emanate from Punk's hometown, Chicago. The reason this match could take place is because, during a recent interaction with fans on Reddit, McIntyre said he would love to team up with reigning North American Champion Oba Femi.
And since Femi is currently involved in a rivalry with Tony D'Angelo, it would only make sense for the 29-year-old to team up with Punk. While the angle is speculative, there is a chance it could happen because WWE would want to put its best foot forward when it comes to the developmental brand's debut on the CW Network.
Wrestling veteran questioned CM Punk's promo on Monday Night RAW
Last night's episode of Monday Night RAW saw CM Punk cut an intense promo as The Straight Edge Superstar addressed his upcoming HIAC Match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood. Punk's promo came two weeks after The Scottish Psychopath annihilated The Best in The World to the extent that he had to be stretchered out of the arena.
While his promo earned praise from the crowd and fans in general, a former WWE writer did not like it. In the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo questioned the point behind Punk's promo.
"After all that's been going on with these two, like, what is that promo supposed to do that hasn't already been done? That's what I talk about, bro, prolonging and prolonging. Why are we in a different place this week than we were in last week?" he said. [6:42 onwards]
It will be interesting to see if CM Punks wins the rubber match against his bitter rival in Atlanta next month.
