CM Punk might have created another enemy in WWE amidst ongoing feud with Drew McIntyre
CM Punk has made many enemies in WWE since returning to the company in November last year, with Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins topping the list. The Voice of The Voiceless has now targeted another superstar, this time from NXT.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's feud began earlier this year at the Royal Rumble. The latter injured The Second City Saint during the 30-man Battle Royal, consigning the former AEW star to the bench for several months.
The bitter rivals have since locked horns at SummerSlam and Bash in Berlin and have traded victories. They are set to have a Hell in a Cell Match at the upcoming Bad Blood Premium Live Event. Despite the looming threat of The Scottish Warrior, The Straight Edge Superstar has seemingly made another enemy in the form of Lexis King. The RAW Superstar recently called King "absurd" on his Instagram account.
The callout could lead to Lexis King and CM Punk meeting next week on WWE NXT
CM Punk is set to appear in next week's episode of NXT to make an announcement related to the October 1, 2024, episode of the brand, which will take place in his hometown of Chicago. However, after his recent jibe at Lexis King, another moment could be featured in the upcoming episode.
After Punk mocked King on social media, it's possible that both men could engage in a confrontation segment backstage or set up a possible match for the future, maybe even one that could take place during the episode in Chicago next month.
Lexis King and CM Punk have a history with each other in WWE
Lexis King and CM Punk might not have crossed paths on WWE television, but they're not exactly strangers to each other. Earlier this year, while Punk was preparing for his televised in-ring return to the company at the Royal Rumble, The Best in The World spent some time training with several NXT stars at the Performance Center, including Lexis King.
Notably, the erstwhile Brian Pillman Jr. and CM Punk spent time together in AEW before their departure last year. Lexis King was a part of the Jacksonville-based company from 2019 to 2023. He signed a full-time contract with AEW in July 2021 and parted ways with Tony Khan's promotion in July 2023.
Notably, CM Punk had previously named the 31-year-old as one of the stars he wanted to face.
Lexis King could be an interesting partner for Drew McIntyre
Punk and Drew McIntyre's upcoming match at Bad Blood would likely be a violent affair as it will take place inside the unforgiving Hell in a Cell structure. If Punk and Lexis have a confrontation on NXT, The Scottish Warrior could pay close attention to it and use it to his advantage.
After losing the Strap Match to The Second City Saint, Drew would be desperate to come out on top in the rubber match at the upcoming Premium Live Event. The Scottish Psychopath could use Lexis King's possible animosity towards The Best in The World to his advantage and request the NXT Superstar to help him during the Hell in a Cell Match on October 5, 2024.
