CM Punk on injuries and disadvantages of being too regular

The Nerdist recently conducted an interview with WWE Superstar CM Punk and he spoke about injuries, setbacks and how he has learnt to cope with them:

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – JUNE 15: CM Punk wrestles Shelton Benjamin during WWE Smackdown at Acer Arena on June 15, 2008 in Sydney, Australia.

“Since I’ve been with the WWE, every time I’ve gotten hurt there’s actually been moments in my career where I’m like, ‘alright sweet, I just tore my gluteus medius tendon in my hip and I have to go get surgery, at least I’m getting a break,’” Punk said. “And I go to get surgery and the doctor gives me my pre-op MRI and says that it’s not torn off the bone and he’s not going to cut me and I’ll do rehab. And I’ll ask, ‘what’s rehab on that,’ and he’ll say ‘oh, 2-3 months.’ So in my mind, I’m like, ‘cha-ching! I just scored three months of not being around all these people that I hate right now. Awesome!’

“And then Vince Mcmohan calls you and goes, ‘Heard you’re not getting surgery, that’s good news! I need you at TV on Monday to do commentary.’ And I’m like, ‘alright.’ You know what I mean? You’re on your iPad and you’re like x-ing out the Hawaii Marriott website and you’re like, ‘alright, I’ll see you Monday, thanks man.’
