CM Punk reveals he would have returned, not caring about wrestling The Undertaker at WM 29, more

The Undertaker and CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29

After grabbing the headlines of both the wrestling and MMA world by joining the UFC, former WWE superstar CM Punk  has been doing a lot of interviews recently, addressing the media about his move and his future plans.

His media rounds carried on as he made an appearance on Opie with Jim Norton, and the spoke about several topics including the controversial week before joining the UFC where he revealed his side of the story of exiting from the WWE on Colt Cabana. You can check out the entire interview in the video player below. Here are some of the nighlights.

On if he will ever return to the WWE

“You asked if I’m going back to WWE, and my answer now is I can’t be sure. I don’t want to be the guy who says ‘never say never,’ I don’t plan [to go back], but I can’t tell the future. Something could happen, but I personally don’t see it.”

Punk noted he wanted to tell his story, which is why he appeared on the Art of Wrestling podcast. He said he didn’t intend to bash the company, but just to tell his story. He said he understands that when someone leaves WWE, there’s always someone else there to replace that person on the “wheel.” Punk said he doesn’t blame WWE for that, and again, was only telling his story.

Interestingly, Punk revealed he would have been open to a WWE return when the company first suspended him, but nobody contacted him. He said he was prepared to sit out the rest of his contract, and figured WWE would withhold his royalties. He then found an uncashed royalty check and had to call WWE.

On his state of mind wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29

“Yeah I was [over it by then]. I didn’t care, and that was a big part of the problem, I was wrestling The Undertaker in front of 80,000 people, and I didn’t give a f**k. I was just like ‘ah, whatever.’ I had zero passion, I was just like ‘yeah, whatever.’ And [Undertaker] might get offended at that, but it’s nothing against him, it’s just where I was at. But I would hope he gets it.”
