CM Punk to turn heel and start a faction with current WWE champion at Bad Blood tonight? Exploring potential tribute to 27-year-old moment

CM Punk will face Drew McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell Match at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, tonight. This upcoming bout will be life-changing for both individuals, as the result of the match will determine the winner of the feud. As of now, the scoreline of the rivalry is 1-1.

Meanwhile, the match could also lead to CM Punk turning heel and starting his faction with a dominant WWE Superstar. The dominant superstar in question is the current NXT North American Champion, Oba Femi.

During a recent interview with KTSM, The Best in The World was asked which stars he would pick in the potential revamped version of The Straight Edge Society. Punk was quick to name Oba Femi as a potential member. The former AEW star led the original version of the stable in 2009-10.

At Bad Blood 2024, WWE could book an angle in which Oba Femi interferes in the Punk vs. McIntyre match, and similar to Kane in 1997, the reigning North American Champion could rip the cell door off its hinges and attack The Scottish Warrior. This angle could lead to The Second City Saint winning the match and turning heel in the process. Later, he could start a hybrid partnership with Femi on RAW and NXT.

CM Punk and Oba Femi could recruit more members and look to dominate the WWE roster. While speculative, the angle makes sense because The Straight Edge Superstar does know a thing or two about factions. Apart from The Straight Edge Society, Punk was also the leader of the iconic Nexus faction.

Ex-WWE employee makes his pick for the match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre

One of the reasons why the Hell in a Cell Match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is iconic is because it's difficult to predict the eventual winner. Until now, both superstars have won a match each, and they have looked dominant in doing so.

However, ahead of their clash inside The Devil's Playground, former WWE writer Vince Russo predicted that The Scottish Psychopath would defeat The Best in The World in Atlanta. During an episode of The Coach and Bro Wrestling Show on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Backstage Pass, Russo detailed why he felt Drew would emerge victorious inside the Hell in a Cell.

"I'm gotta be honest with you. I'm betting on Drew because they beat Drew to death. I mean, they beat Drew to death. He's lost every single time. He's got to get his hand raised in one of these times. I think that is the safe bet. Being Hell in a Cell, there's a million ways you could beat Punk without hurting him," he said.

It will be interesting to see if The Scottish Warrior emerges victorious tonight.
