CM Punk's WWE contract to expire on July 17th .. what next ?
CM Punk’s contract with the WWE is about to expire in the next 3 days which means that he will be independent from the brand from mid-July.
The yet to return superstar has been aloof from all the current events recently and has shown no signs of returning to the company. Punk, at the age of 35, turned around and decided to walk away from the WWE in the beginning of this year. WWE representatives never addressed the reasons behind his move and it remains to be seen what announcement they make about Punk’s status in the industry once his contract does expire.
One may hope that since his wife, AJ Lee, made a surprising return on Raw this week, Punk also might consider the option of coming back. The duo recently got married while rumours of AJ being pregnant were doing rounds, those were killed off after a sharp and fit looking Aj came back and reclaimed her title against Paige.
Fans still chant CM Punk at the arenas which clearly reflects the fact that he is missed in the ring. The Straight Edge superstar has been spotted in the NHL and Baseball games in Chicago where he has looked out of shape.
The contract legitimately expires sometime around July 17. Will Punk announce his retirement after that? As of now, only CM punk knows the answer to that question.
