Cody Rhodes to drop his Undisputed WWE Title due to injury following shocking reveal? Chances of it happening at Bash in Berlin
Cody Rhodes is set to put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin tonight. But the latest revelation on SmackDown has raised questions over The American Nightmare's health ahead of the title match.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens met for an intense promo segment on the blue brand last night. KO revealed that the champion had sustained an injury while competing on the live tour in Europe.
The Prizefighter stated that Cody Rhodes was not a hundred percent fit and, thus, insisted they shouldn't compete in the championship bout. However, The American Nightmare refused, as he remained adamant about defending the title against his friend. A legitimate injury would have led to the Undisputed WWE Championship changing hands at the upcoming Premium Live Event.
However, the knee injury brought up by Owens is likely a part of the storyline, as the challenger was not happy about the match not being postponed. Hence, it's unlikely that Cody will drop his title tonight.
However, within the context of the storyline, if Owens fails to beat an injured Cody in the title match, it would frustrate him and might even lead to a heel turn. The American Nightmare openly questioned his intentions, citing former incidents and Owens' track record of betraying his friend. Later, KO whispered something in Rhodes' ear and exited the ring.
Cody Rhodes' next challenger after Bash in Berlin
The latest episode of WWE SmackDown may have hinted at the next challenger for Cody Rhodes after Bash in Berlin. If the 39-year-old retains his gold tonight, he will likely face Solo Sikoa next.
The self-proclaimed Tribal Chief failed to beat Cody in a Bloodline Rules Match for the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam 2024. The Street Champ later demanded a rematch, but the reigning champion picked Kevin Owens as his next contender.
Sikoa cut a promo on the go-home edition of SmackDown ahead of Bash in Berlin, in which he said that whoever walked out of the PLE with the title would face him next.
Solo also mentioned Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, and Jimmy Uso during his promo. It will be interesting to see if The Bloodline interferes in the title match between Cody and Owens tonight.
