Cody Rhodes to lose his championship against 44-year-old WWE legend ahead of WrestleMania? Possibility explored
Cody Rhodes is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, holding the title with great honor. However, this achievement also comes with a downside - he constantly has a target on his back due to challengers wanting to take the title from him. Despite the attempts of three top wrestlers from SmackDown, Cody has managed to retain his championship. The question now is whether a 44-year-old WWE legend could be the one to finally defeat him.
The answer to that question, at least in the opinion of Chris Van Vliet and WWE analyst Sam Roberts is "Yes", especially considering the 44-year-old legend is Randy Orton. The possibility was discussed on the latest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where the latter broached the subject. He suggested, that there is potential for a storyline where Orton is the one who dethrones Cody Rhodes.
Responding to the same, Roberts suggested that it is a possibility and that he believes that The Viper would be Cody Rhodes' next feud after Kevin Owens. Building on that point, Van Vliet further added that dropping the title to Randy Orton could lead to another match between the two, at the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania.
That certainly would be quite the headliners for the Show of Shows. But, as things stand, this is nothing more than speculation. Only time will tell what the future holds.
Cody Rhodes will team up with Randy Orton tonight on SmackDown
Before we can even imagine a potential Cody Rhodes-Randy Orton match, we must look at the here and now. As of now, The Viper and The American Nightmare are good friends, and they will both rely on that friendship tonight on SmackDown. After all, the two are teaming up against two of the best that Monday Night RAW has to offer.
That's right, around roughly 24 hours ahead of their respective bouts at Crown Jewel, Orton, and Rhodes will be teaming up against the World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, and his lackey, Ludwig Kaiser. A potentially hard-hitting match, and one with a lot riding on it.
Victory tonight could give the winner momentum heading into Crown Jewel. And given the WWE Crown Jewel Championship is on the line for Rhodes and Gunther, momentum could be just what they need. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top, both tonight and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
