Cody Rhodes to lose his World Title to a returning WWE legend at Royal Rumble 2025? Exploring the potentially historic moment

Cody Rhodes has undoubtedly been a strong Undisputed WWE Champion after winning the title from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, he may not remain champion until next year's Show of Shows.

It has been a few months since Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship, and so far, his title defenses against the likes of AJ Styles and Logan Paul have been impressive, to say the least. While it looks like he will be holding the title for a long time, a former Franchise Player could return to become a World Champion again. The star is none other than John Cena.

Cena recently claimed there he doesn't have much time left in his in-ring WWE career. If so, fans may be sleeping on a dream match between The American Nightmare and The Cenation Leader. The two have been the top faces of the promotion for a considerable period, so an encounter between them will generate loads of hype among the fans.

John Cena could target Rhodes in hopes of becoming a 17-time World Champion before he hangs his boots. This could mean he might face The American Nightmare upon his comeback. The best occasion for the battle will be WWE Royal Rumble 2025, leaving both stars with enough time to transition into new storylines for WrestleMania 41.

This is just speculation and nothing is confirmed just yet. While there may be different plans, a bout with the two super babyfaces battling each other will be thrilling to witness.

John Cena had some words of wisdom for Cody Rhodes after WrestleMania 40

Cody Rhodes won his first World Championship at WrestleMania 40 in one of the most historic WWE moments. After the victory, John Cena had a chat with The American Nightmare. Cena opened up about the conversation on an episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

The 16-time World Champion asked Rhodes if he could feel the weight of the title. After getting a positive reply, he went on to explain how the title would get heavier each day. It was an excellent way to elaborate on the responsibility a champion has to carry.

While there doesn't seem to be bad blood between the two, The Cenation Leader will certainly return to claim the title he has held 16 times. It will be great to see him challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
