Controversial ex-WWE star thinks there's a conspiracy against him
In a recent interview with WrestlingInc, TNA superstar Matt Hardy opened up about various topics ranging from his title defence against EC3, his relationship with his brother Jeff, his contract with TNA, Daniel Bryan’s recent retirement, as well as a lot more.
On his contract with TNA, Matt stated that he was in the middle of hammering out a deal with the company, while noting that the next contract the franchise will offer him will be even bigger than his current one.
Matt also shed some light on his current relationship with his brother Jeff, stating that he did send his sibling flowers when he was in the hospital for an injury caused by Eric Young. While acknowledging that Jeff had a good run in wrestling, Matt confessed that he was disappointed that his brother didn’t reciprocate his support.
In fact, when asked to do a little word-association, Matt said ‘conspiracy’ when Dixie Carter’s name was thrown out and answered ‘selfish’ when his brother Jeff Hardy was mentioned.
When asked if he’s ever come back to his old stomping ground the WWE, the wrestler claimed that TNA fell over themselves in order to ensure his stay and the right thing to do would be to repay their faith in him.
Hardy also noted that he’s the core of TNA right now and the others still have a lot to do in order to catch up with him. The wrestler did hint that he was unsure where he’d be in the next five years but right now his future is with TNA and he’d do everything in his power to make it a massive force in wrestling.
When it came to the topic of Daniel Bryan, who announced his retirement from WWE on a recent episode of RAW, Hardy labelled Bryan as a ‘great human being’ and an ‘amazing athlete’ and confessed that he was sorry to hear that he hung up his boots as he would have loved to beat him.
Matt paid tribute to Bryan, noting that he was at the top of his game, while stating that injuries come with the package that is wrestling. (While speaking about Bryan, Hardy made sure to reinforce the fact that he was superhuman.)
On AJ Styles, who made a controversial switch to WWE after a long TNA career, Matt said: "Someone like AJ Styles, he needs to stop giving and start taking. Apparently he was willing to take WWE's offer, and he's doing what's best for him and his family. I can't blame him for that. He's doing what I'm doing, I can't hate a guy for copying what I'm doing and taking my lead."
