Controversy over blood in the Lesnar-Undertaker match, WWE's top brass furious?
The epic finale between Undertaker and Brock Lesnar inside the devastating steel structure was reminiscent of their last Hell in a Cell outing, as both turned out to be bloody encounters.
The only difference between then and now is that, back then it was the Ruthless Aggression Era in 2002, when bleeding wasn’t a big deal. The current PG 13 Era, though, isn’t so lenient when it comes to bloodshed and excessive violence.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, the blood dripping from Lesnar and Undertaker’s heads didn’t go down to well with Vince McMahon, who was furious over the incident. Bryan Alvarez got a text message from a WWE employee who was attestant to Vince’s reaction while it happened.
“Vince freaked the f**k out. There’s no polite way to say it. Kevin Dunn freaked out and screamed to get a doctor out there,” said the employee.
According to reports from Inquisitr, the moment the bleeding started, Kevin Dunn ordered a doctor to immediately go and check on Lesnar and also to tell both of them to take it easy and calm things down a bit. The match was such, that Lesnar shoved the doctor in the heat of the moment and went on with the bout.
Lesnar, though, is at the centre of the controversy as he is suspected to have bladed (deliberately cutting yourself with a blade), which is strictly prohibited by the WWE. Lesnar apparently suffered the bleeding when he was rammed by Taker into the ring post, which is the time he allegedly resorted to ‘blading’.
The announce team tried their level best to cover it up by saying that Lesnar somehow got his arm in the way and reduced the impact.
Whether or not Lesnar bladed would be looked into by the WWE and his guilt could prove costly, similar to Batista’s case from the past. Batista really got Vince all heated up when he bladed himself during a match against Chris Jericho back in 2008 and was fined $100,00 for the same.
After the match, Lesnar was attended to backstage by the doctors and photos of his injury were posted on the WWE website showing the cut on his head. Below are the photos:
