Could the Rhodes brothers face the Shield for the tag titles?

The Rhodes Brothers

As it has been reported, Cody Rhodes is set to get married on September 26th.

What was first thought out to be a honeymoon getaway and a later return, seems to be a bit far-fetched, considering the fact that we saw him three weeks after he got unceremoniously fired by Triple H.

This storyline has not disappointed yet. It has produced two great matches and two great weeks of the best of heel Stephanie McMahon. Apart from a few jarring things that Dusty Rhodes said that seemingly defied logic (“loving your children is best for business “Really?),  this storyline has actually been able to do well despite being second fiddle to Daniel  Bryan’s storyline with the Authority and Randy Orton.

But it was quite interesting to see that the Rhodes Brothers attacked the Shield, instead of Triple H or Randy Orton.

This Monday, when the Shield were about to start things off in the 11 on 3 handicap match by trying to attack Bryan who was the only one present in the ring, everyone in the arena and those watching at home saw something unprecedented.

Goldust (with his full make up on), and Cody Rhodes attacked the Shield. I don’t know if it was just me who found it awesome. Even though it puts my prediction of a Rhodes return with the intervention of a face Vince McMahon at the highest of odds, it is quite clear that this storyline has breathed a new life to Cody Rhodes’s career.

While we saw signs of that push in his feud against Damien Sandow (Where is this guy?), right now Rhodes seems to be in the driver’s seat in the push of his career. Of course, having a wrestling heritage of being from the Rhodes family helps a lot and is an added advantage not enjoyed by majority of the locker room, it is still well deserved for Rhodes.

Moving on, as far as the tag team division goes, the Usos are really exciting to watch, the Primetime Players are getting a good push with Titus o’Neil really looking awesome, the Los Metadors are going to debut next week and the Real Americans are way more talented to be treated the way they are treated.

It seems that more than all the teams mentioned above, Goldust and Cody Rhodes might have a better chance at getting a match with the Shield for the tag titles and maybe winning it, than the rest of the tag division.

That can be a renaissance for Goldust, which can be short and sweet. The title change might also show signs of a crack within the Shield and a huge setback for the Authority.

The thing is, if the Rhodes Brothers lose, then that really hammers the push Cody’s getting with the pace of this storyline. There has been at least one Rhodes every week since Cody got fired to continue this storyline and make the audience care about this feud. I would rather see Cody getting a singles push than be seen in the tag division.

Firstly, there needs to be some answers as to what the scene is between the Shield and the Authority. And then get to the way how this storyline with the Rhodes will be continued.
