Damian Priest to squash Gunther at WWE SummerSlam? Exploring why it needs to happen
Damian Priest and Gunther's rivalry has officially started heating up. Last night, just weeks before their fated match at SummerSlam, the two faced off in an incredibly tense segment. The two exchanged words that, in all honesty, left El Campeone infuriated. But could this interaction lead to Priest squashing The Ring General on August 3 in Cleveland, Ohio?
The answer to this question is Yes, and it has everything to do with Gunther's attitude heading into last night's face-off on RAW. The King of the Ring can easily be described as being overconfident. Not only was he certain about being the World Heavyweight Champion after SummerSlam, but he also took the opportunity to insult Damian Priest, calling him "street trash."
With this in mind, Damian Priest needs to bring his A-game to The Biggest Party of the Summer. Not only should he squash Gunther, but he should also humble him for his disrespectful comments. By destroying the 36-year-old, The Archer of Infamy can establish himself as a credible champion. It may also allow the Imperium leader to turn a new leaf and perhaps respectfully approach Priest in the future for another championship opportunity.
Gunther has certainly done a good job establishing himself as the heel in this feud. But whether or not Priest will be able to vanquish him remains to be seen. After all, this is nothing more than speculation.
Damian Priest seemingly put an end to The Judgment Day's feud with Braun Strowman on RAW
While Gunther will undoubtedly be the number one target for Damian Priest in the coming weeks, The Archer of Infamy actually took care of another rival last night on RAW. The name in question is a former Universal Champion who has been a thorn in The Judgment Day's side for months now, Braun Strowman.
Soon after his confrontation with Gunther, Priest was faced with what seemed like an insurmountable task: facing Braun Strowman. However, unlike his stablemates, El Campeone dealt with the 385-pound star without interference. There were times when it looked like Strowman would get the better of him, but ultimately, Priest was the one who came out on top.
If Priest takes on Gunther the way he did with Strowman, the outcome of SummerSlam is already decided. He will likely leave The Biggest Party of the Summer to the words "And Still" ringing around the Cleveland Browns Stadium.
