WWE Rumours: Daniel Bryan's return was planned for months in advance

His return was gladly accepted by WWE fans

As seen on this week's episode of WWE's flagship show Monday Night Raw, Shane McMahon introduced the director of the 'Yes Moment' Daniel Bryan as the new General manager for the post-draft Smackdown Live.

This move only amplified the feeling that we are going to see the 'New Era' coming to full effect on the blue brand which started when Mr. McMahon announced Shane as the commissioner of Smackdown.

But for how long did WWE actually have plans of bringing Bryan back as a regular face on WWE TV? According to recent rumours, it was planned even before they made the announcement of Draft or the brand split itself.

According to Allwrestlingnews.com, Daniel Bryan was given the proposal to become the first general manager of the Blue brand of WWE after it went live way back in May, and he agreed to the deal in the same month as well.

The site also reports that they were originally planning to announce Bryan's return at the night after Money In The Bank PPV but they nixed the plans when the name of Mick Foley came into the mix as the Raw GM, deciding that they could announce it together.

It's yet not known when WWE reached out to Foley for a return, but it most probably happened after the announcement of the Brand Split sometime in June
