Dark main event for SmackDown, Cena - ESPN

It was Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose teaming up against the New Day this week

- As we noted, SmackDown this week saw Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose team up to take on The New Day in the main event. The show also saw the debut of NXT star Tyler Breeze, who made a splash on the main roster, by going after Dolph Ziggler.

The tag action continued after the tapings ended when the duo of Ambrose-Reigns took on the team of Bray Wyatt & Erick Rowan. As it happens usually with the dark matches, the babyface team won, following which Braun Strowman came down to help his cohorts in beating down on Ambrose & Reigns.

Ambrose hit his clothesline and Reigns hit the spear, while Bray retreated from the ring. The night ended with Roman & Dean standing tall in the ring, to send the crowd home happy. Reigns is set to take on Bray Wyatt inside Hell in a Cell, while Ambrose’s status is up in the air following the cancellation of his bout against members of the Wyatt family, after randy Orton pulled out with injury.

- WWE’s association with ESPN continued this week as US champion John Cena appeared on SportsCenter last night with Jonathan Coachman, following a look back at the previous night’s WWE RAW from Dallas.

After Cena came on, he thanked Coach and offered serious praise for the former WWE announcer by terming him as ‘one of the biggest names in WWE history’. Coach responded by comparing Cena to Tom Brady, which Cena just jokingly laughed off.

Cena mentioned his work with the Make-A-Wish foundation and termed them as experiences very close to him. the duo also discussed about WWE NXT’s association with Susan.G Komen’s foundation. Cena offered high praise for NXT, calling it the linchpin of the future of the WWE. When Coach asked whether the next John Cena is in NXT, Cena said it isn’t about finding the next John Cena. He implored the NXT stars to find themselves before coming on to the main roster, so as to not have stage fright.

The interview wrapped up with Cena thanking Coach and the ESPN for supporting him and WWE. Below is the video of Cena’s appearance on the show:
